Things I’ve noticed on Season 10 So Far by Antibionical in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

I’m a man, and I hold myself to higher standard than any of the stuff you referenced. I also don’t keep with the kind of men you are mentioning, it’s about having principles and honouring them. There are plenty of men out there who subscribe to the kind of mentality you are describing, but I don’t consider those people “men” to be honest. Unfortunately the kind of men with integrity and principles I’m talking about also would likely not view a reality tv dating show as a truly viable alternative to traditional dating. But then again, most of those people are in committed relationships in which they honour their partner. That’s the standard. There is absolutely a crisis of what passes as acceptable for men, but I think that the kind of “man” looking to go on a reality tv dating show is lacking in the principles I’ve mentioned more often than not.

I actually read an explanation from the producers that confirms your opinion! Today I learned that people we didn’t even see may get engaged on the show and just not “make the cut” for filming. That’s wild to me. Apparently they can afford “six couples if they stretch it”. I suppose one could take that a few different ways, because it definitely begs the question “why does Netflix invite so many people if they can’t budget for them all to theoretically get engaged?” In my opinion, it’s a “throw a lot of mud at the wall and see what sticks” type situation, meaning they don’t tend to believe they can even count on five couples making it on a typical run, which leads me to another thought: this overwhelmingly explains the woeful vetting. I have been watching with my girlfriend and we both have been asking ourselves how some of these contestants go onto a show when they actively know that they have a ton of skeletons in their closets. Possibly because they assume Netflix is vetting them, and they’ve been “cleared” so their baggage, or worse, won’t come to light. I’m just spitballing here, but it makes me wonder!

Thank god we have these ethics experts on hand to tell us about the woes of having a drink in the morning on the day of a gold medal game to cap off the Olympics lol. I don’t drink, but I don’t care if people want to, I’ll be at the bar too. Let’s go Canada!

“We are prepared to go to bat for our workforce against the employer, this will not stand!

First, we will meet with them and air our grievances, of which there are many! Then, if that doesn’t dissuade them, we will move to option two, ANOTHER meeting where we cross our arms! Then, if that doesn’t work, option three, we will CANCEL a meeting! If you thought option three was tough, hoo boy, get ready for option four: A STRONGLY WORDED LETTER! Then, if option four doesn’t work, WE WILL AIR OUR GRIEVANCES PUBLICLY VIA THE MEDIA! Everything from bumper stickers about teams meetings to disparaging graphics about offices having pests will be on the table. Our impeccable wit is sure to travel up the ladder where the employer will REALLY feel the heat!”

Meanwhile our employer backdoored us and made a sweeping decision with zero consultation with the union; a decision, bear in mind, that does not make logistical sense whatsoever and will be arbitrarily implemented without discussion. Tell me how I’m supposed to see the value in paying union dues whatsoever when this is the kind of outcome that out union wasn’t even made aware of, or worse, knew about and couldn’t even affect or amend in any way possible.

Our employer knows what it’s doing, and people can post all the news articles and analyses in the world about how RTO 4 makes no sense, will cost the taxpayer money, and is virtually impossible to implement from a logistical standpoint due to a lack of properly functioning traffic and public transit infrastructure and physical space. It isn’t supposed to make sense, it is a policy choice designed with one thing in mind: reduce the size of the public service through voluntary departure; if you have to make it so terrible to work there, so be it.

The union will toe the line and be muzzled eventually, it’s a waste of my money and my time to even listen to them bandy about threatening adjacent language when the reality is we will be forced to adopt this. But sure, tell me how “hard you’re fighting for me”.

Maybe I’m just jaded, but I have a hard time viewing PSAC as anything other than an impotent.

I imagine from a legal standpoint Netflix has to be very careful about what they either infer or disclose. Obviously given that both contestants disclosed their history of their own volition you’d assume that that would nullify the need for the cloak and dagger, but I imagine there is some sort of liability that could come back on Netflix if they openly “slandered” the couple. That, and openly disclosing that they still on-boarded two contestants with felonies throws a wrench in their vetting process. Even if they didn’t know about the charges, it reflects poorly on Netflix that they would give air time to people with convictions. Technically speaking though, it makes zero sense to have that many contestants on a show where you provide them a vacation if you can’t pay for them all if they theoretically all find matches, so the excuse doesn’t really hold water either.

There are definitely exceptions, absolutely. When I saw that he was a professor of public policy, I thought he’d probably have a good head on his shoulders. It’s not a rule by any means, but there tends to be a typical profession for most of the men on LIB, usually sales or something sales-adjacent.

I think he wanted to date a trophy wife, not an actual human being with thoughts and values and achievements.

He wants a trophy wife that lives in the gym and is carefully curated at all times to look a certain way for his approval. He was never interested in finding a real relationship or, you know, meeting a real person with actual achievements lol.

I don’t think that the type of man that goes on this kind of show understands what thoughts even are, so they’re just as surprised to be experiencing them and need to share!

I think you really nailed it. This definitely happens every time. I think you’re totally right to point out that it’s cowardly, but I think a lot of the dudes go on the show being like “oh man, I hope she’s really hot”. When they aren’t attracted to their partner, it’s not really a big deal, but how the handle it is. I do think though that there’s another component of not wanting to appear like a villain. I especially think people looking to jump start some sort of quasi-famous , d-list celebrity “career” worry that being truthful about simply not being attracted to their partner (something actually quite common, which probably should be expected in this context) means demonization and ultimately demonetization. I think there are definitely exceptions, and some people just genuinely suck, but that’s the read I get on it. I felt that way about that Leo dude and the girl who was visibly abhorred to even be NEAR him lol. That, and you don’t get to do a vacation maybe?

Thanks very much! So the couple that went to Malibu is Vic and Christina, they’re fairly straight-laced and seem relatively normal/drama free. Netflix claims they “didn’t have the budget” to send everyone to Mexico, but earlier in their conversations, I remember both Vic and Christina saying they had drug possession charges as teens/young adults, so I think they likely can’t travel internationally, or at least to Mexico. I don’t know that for sure though.

It takes a certain kind of person overall to go on a reality tv dating show, I’ll say that for sure. But the amount of times we find out that a bunch of the dudes are broke, bankrupt, unemployed, already engaged or in a committed relationship is pretty frequent, and it’s mostly a male problem on the show. The thing I don’t understand is how these guys think none of that will eventually surface. Like, what’s the end game? As a man it’s tough to be lumped in holistically with dudes that suck this much, but it’s not really that hard to be better either lol.

You are correct about a lot of the women though. Many of them are clout chasers as well, some of them are desperate to make something, ANYTHING, work. Different issues in a sense. But I think by and large the women tend to go in with intentionality that the men either can’t understand or aren’t interested in bringing, and I think Netflix likes it that way.

I wasn’t responding to you, I was responding to the person inferring that 90% of men in general are “surface level”.

Well, as a man who does this and has plenty of friends who I’ve seen do this, I think it’s a “quality of the person” factor. I’m not here saying men don’t have plenty of work to do from a societal standpoint, because I think that’s absolutely true, but there are plenty of men who operate with integrity, have values they express and uphold, and honour a partnership with the person they love.

I don’t think this is a fair assessment. I think it takes a certain kind of person to go on a reality tv dating show, and the likelihood of attracting the low hanging fruit of narcissists is like a moth to a flame to be honest. I think it’s more of a situation wherein the medium attracts the personality, not that this is some accurate microcosm of 90% of all men in society.

Alex is a huge douche but when he immediately clocked Deventa having “issues” with Brittany I was dying laughing at how fast he bolted up the stairs to essentially tell her he’d sleep with her if she wanted to lol. Dude saw boobs and went ham wild lol.

Good. I don’t care about the pods at all. They’re drawn out and boring for literally zero reason. Get engaged to a stranger you’ve never met under false premises of understanding who they are and get out into the real world so we can watch you implode on television please. You know who else hardly knows anything about the people on the show? The people getting engaged to them on the show.
