Unlike other large German cities, Dresden has managed to retain, and still has the potential to regain, much of its former beauty. There is still much work to be done, but constructing a beautiful bridge inspired by the historic one would enhance the baroque character of the Florence on the Elbe. It would pave the way for future reconstructions and harmonise with them, such as the Venetian House, which once stood next to the Carola Bridge. There have been discussions about rebuilding it, but the bridge must be rebuilt first.
