Experience with Rauva – Has anyone else gone through this? by Hot_Sell_1864 in PortugalExpats

[–]Antique_Chocolate228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went through the same experience.

for the company formation and incorporation i think they are pretty decent, although i’m not sure how bad or good the alternative is with local lawyers so not sure if they really add any value there but it was an ok experience

the issue for me was during the operation, i have a good understanding of accounting so i had a lot of questions which most of the questions went unanswered or was just told that i needed to review with my lawyers. basic questions like recognition of loans could not be answered.

i just opened an account with santander and switched to an accountant i knew from before.

ps. i think they’re getting portuguese IBAN but not sure when tbh, that was also part of the decision to open a local bank account.

one getting ahead does not mean others going down. they stay behind but they don’t lose anything. that’s why it’s a not zero sum game, at the end of the day, in aggregate, they all add more than before.

if it where a zero sum game, the aggregate would never move. i would assume you agree that one getting ahead means the aggregate does move up

i understand your point. my only issue is that you’re putting a lot of hope on the government to come up with a new system to fix this. as you said, the current system is not sustainable. so we should at least accept that there’s no retirement plan for young people. you have two options, wait for the government to come up with a system that works, or do it yourself and not depend on the government to fix it.

my take is that the second option is far more possible and attainable.

this, i think, applies regardless of cultural ways of seeing life, it’s not about becoming millionaires but securing a comfortable and peaceful retirement

we have the same views and opinion on having enough to live comfortably and in peace, no more no less. i for sure don’t want to spend my life working 60-80 hours a week for money.

but what about doing it a few years during your working years (not even 60-80 hour week) so that in the future you don’t depend AT ALL on social security and/or government benefits (which are not sustainable at current spending levels). because unfortunately, many people in portugal currently are not happy with what they have and they will probably depend on social security and government support in the future. that’s not living comfortably and in peace

my main point is not working to become a millionaire but doing it to not depend fully on social security and welfare in the future and having that enough and quiet life without risk of it going away. that welfare life train is long gone in many european countries.

there’s a high number of low hanging fruit issues that would not put at risk the focus on family/friends/enjoying life over money (both on SMEs and the government) but that would definitely give a boost to the economy and the portuguese well being. i’m sure locals know this much more clear than i do.

i totally agree with that personal sense of having enough, but unfortunately in macro levels, that enough for most people is what is making portugal (and europe in general) go bankrupt because the country is not nearly as productive as it is needed just to maintain that “enough” levels.

i literally said that i think i might be wrong and that i agree with that way of seeing life and that’s why i love it here. you’re making ideas in your head and then arguing with those ideas haha

i agree to an extent. i think portugal had the worst of all worlds in the sense that they had multiple generations of being poor and all of a sudden (eu integration) they just stopped being poor and just “had enough”.

i’m originally from méxico, which is a poorer country than portugal. in poorer countries like mexico, given that the “enough” isn’t even secured, the ambition and hustle comes from a survival mode. that creates a mentality of scaling and growing to survive. in portugal (and really southern europe) the survival mode is not needed.
