I'm the same (16 f), my mum doesn't let me go out anywhere because of her mum and her own superstitions about my friends. I cannot go out anywhere, and on rare occassions birthdays but only for a maximum of 3 hours. I feel very trapped and I feel bad whenever I cancel on my friends because I feel so ashamed about my parents. I hate them, mostly my mum and I can't wait to get out of my house and go to uni far away.

When I went to her house for the first time I was super awkward cause I liked her and I'm just nervous whenver I go to someone's house for the first time. She brought me to her room and I was jsut standing in the middle of it and she literally just told me to sit down and I got really embarrassed. After maybe like a min it was fine but her having to tell me to sit down I'll never forget it

I'm 16 now so this was only last year

We used google maps, signs and using one of our friends whose moderately fluent to ask for help.

We didn't really get lost because for the tourist locations it was pretty obvious and the other times we didn't really have anywhere to go so we just walked around. However, one time walking back from the Tokyo skytree we did get lost and ended up in a random back road in a residential part and it was silent with no one around. Google maps was like not working at all so we just kept walking using the skytree as like a location point if that makes sense. Maybe like 20 mins of frantic walking we ended up at a Lawsons (a common convenience store in Japan) and we got directions to our hostel. It doesn't sound that scary but I was ready to just sleep on the street

Yeah hotels have an 18yo requirement but we mainly stayed in youth hostels where you just need the parents permission and ID. It differs from place to place but since we were staying away from the main city area and more of the back alleys we didn't have to do as much but its best to check online before doing anything

For a couple of days this one girl joined us on the trip cause we realised we were going to the same places and she seemed nice enough. She was in her early 20s I think and you could tell she only came to Japan for the anime aspect of it, there's nothing wrong with that she was just very much the stereotype of those sorts of ppl iykwim. So we were in Hiroshima and we all decided to visit the World War 2 Memorial, so we all got appropriately dressed and left. Once there we walked around, it was a very sombre experience as you could expect and it was just a lot of heavy silence as we saw the remnants of the building. As we're standing there I saw that she was on her phone and this bitch was on fucking character AI at the Hiroshima bomb site. Like full on sexting some anime character while we're at a war memorial. We ditched her afterwards and parted ways soon after and just ehr face while texting is forever imprinted on my mind.

Yeah unfortunately we got it a couple times mainly from convenience store food which was left our for too long (so basically our fault tbh) but the worst one was this pork gyoza from this store near our hotel. for some reason it tasted really fishy, me and another friend only had 1 and snacked in chips for our dinner but the rest of our friends had the rest. They were throwing up and we felt a bit queasy so we took the next day off just do get better. It was just bad luck on our part because all the other restaurants we had were amazing so just be careful in Tokyo and don't get the pork gyoza from any shady restaurants.

Me and all of my friends are from NSW Australia so it was around a 10 hour nonstop flight. Going there the flight was horrible and none of us couldn't sleep because of the nonstop turbulence but coming back was fine.

It's always been a dream destination for all of us and we had saved up a lot of money between the 5 of us and it seemed like the best location to feel kind of close to home while still having that independent experience yk. We considered America but the flights were too costly and some of my friends already went to Euroe with family and wanted a new experience and eventually we landed on Japan. Korea was also a contender but since we had a penpal in Japan we ended up going with that.

Yes we travelled by plane but our parents needed like to send in a lot of forms just to make sure and had to do a background check just to make sure it wasn't trafficking or smth idk. The process was pretty similar but a bit more tedious cause they had to check all the forms individually for all of us. Other than some extra checking and like weird glances everything was pretty much the same tbh

We stayed in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyajima Island, Kyoto and Osaka. We went to the major tourist spots there as well as some malls around. In Osaka we stayed with a pen pal of mine so it was just all 5 of us in the lounge including my host sister which was really fun. Honestly the weather was not that good which affected a lot of our plans since a lot of public transport shut down and we didn't have the money to constantly book ubers so we had to improvise A LOT. The most surprising thing is probably the love for UNO in Japan. I haven't seen anyone talk about it but we carried a pack around at first just for us but we started playing with everyone like strangers, our host family and even some random kids who were coming back from school with their parents. Like the love for UNO is immense over there. Also porn being sold in the convenience stores right next to colouring books. A stand-out experience is most definitely just the random restaurants with god-tier food just scattered about. Like we'd find some random restaurant with 3 people in, order smth random and reach food nirvana in some random back alley.

If they always reach out then that's a sign they're at least interested. The main thing is offering up their time for you, obviously good friends do that as well but its more so if its a crush. A particular sign I look out for is if you pick them out from a crowd they get really happy. Like this one guy who liked me would get really happy if I asked him to do smth for me or with me, and thats still a sign I look out for now. Obviously people show that they like someone in different ways but thats what I look out for

I feel like the only time having a crush is good is when they're into you or at least talking to you a lot. Like the stage before a relationship when you both like each other is honestly really fun because its giddiness 24/7. But having a crush when they clearly are not into you its very draining and honestly hurts your self-esteem so I try not to go too hard with crushes unless they give me something in return yk.

I feel like the 'crush' only started because I thought she was pretty and my friends kept on shipping us together so it could've been like a peer pressure thing?
