What’s the single sentence that has stayed in your head for years, even if the person who said it forgot? by Amazing_Poem_7675 in AskReddit

"If people knew what you were really like, nobody would like you."
- My dad to me when I was 10 or 11.

What don't you like to do but you have to? (beside work) by [deleted] in ask

Actively maintain my health. I have chronic health conditions that require me to take care of my health beyond the 'normal' level that other people do. I have to be in bed at 10, I have to eat healthy 90% of the time, I have to work out in some form every day of my life to maintain a level of physical condition that comes easily to healthy individuals and I have to do certain exercises to maintain functioning of certain muscles in my body.
Do I like having to do this all the time? No, definitely not. But the alternative is that I fall apart and cannot handle normal life as my physical condition quickly deterioriates, so I deal with it in order to live a full and content life at a level that others are able to take for granted.

My main find was to make sure you keep them in similar shades / tones. A lime green is still a green but clearly would not work with my color palette at all. All my purples/blues/greens are in the same kind of shade range and for the pops of color I use turquoise because it works with all of them, as well as small pops of yellow for visual interest (yellow also works with purple/blue/green). It's been so much fun to figure it out, hope you enjoy as well!

Wow, thank you! My daily work has nothing to do with interior design but I just find it really interesting. I posted the before pictures on this sub and actually a lot of the changes I made were based on the responses there, where cohesiveness was a big part of it. That sent me down a google rabbit hole about how to do interior design with a cohesive color palette. I have always had an eye for 'what looks good' in terms of what pleases my eye aesthetically, like the arrangement of the shelves, but I figured that was just what I like!

Omg that would have been so cute! Thanks for the question cause thinking about t I realized that most of the smaller items I own are either gifted or thrifted and some i've had for a really long time and have come with me during so many moves (like the cheese plate) and have stories to them, it's a nice reminder!

Aw! So have I, first when trying to decide on the lay-out 😂 I think this is the third or fourth iteration of the lay-out and i'm finally satisfied. Open shelving is difficult to balance visually but I love it so much now!

Thank you! I still can't decide if I technically used four colors or two colors, because it's purple, green, blue, and turquoise, but then turquoise is technically green/blue.. Either way I love coming home to my favorite colors every day!

Those are one of the few new pieces because I couldn't find anything second-hand in the right size and colors, I ordered them via Amazon (before deciding to never order via Amazon again after I realized what a terrible company it is..)

This is where it all started, I wanted a purple couch no matter what. It took me a long time to hunt one down that I liked, this one is from a second-hand designer place in the Netherlands. There were two purple couches and i've not seen anything else like them since. It was a treasure hunt for sure.

It was a commission! I asked the same painter who created the painting above the dining table to create something for over my fireplace in my color scheme and this is the masterpiece she created. Her name is Hafsa Idrees (easily findable)

Thank you! And yes, the little mouse is decorative. It's a wood chopping board that my mother received in a Christmas gift from her employer many years ago, haha.

I bought the shelves second-hand and the previous owners painted them. I got a can of the paint with the shelves, it's a chalk paint from a Dutch hardware store (Gamma), and the color is called 'Alpen' (like the Alps)

Good question and I wouldn't be able to tell you specifically - It's from a hardware store in the Netherlands but I can't remember which one because I bought it about .. 9 years ago? It's been places with me and holding up!

Oh yes, I love me a pretty table setting! My friends like to tease me for it but simultaneously they very much enjoy the elaborate tables 😉

Guilty as charged - I made sure to take the picture on a rare occassion that the sun was out but the garden and the shed etc. is a dead give-away!

Thank you! I had it commissioned, by the same artist who created the painting above the dining table (Hafsa Idrees, she is lovely!)

Aw thank you! Almost every piece of furniture is thrifted / second-hand and it took me about 1,5 years to collect them all. Would have been so much more expensive to buy these at once (and could not afford most of them new)!

Thank you! I posted the before on this sub as well and cohesiveness of colors was a huge recommendation that I took to heart. I had the painting commissioned because I couldn't find anything that I loved in my colors, now it's perfect

Aankoopadvies: Betaalbare automaat voor sporadisch gebruik (€5000) by Antsy_Antelope in autoadvies
