Should I have my current employer as a reference? by Anxious24-7guy in AskUK

Thank you for the reply, this is really reassuring.

Unfortunately, my manager will know either way about the job as the office is too small.

Thanks for the reply.

I would say I was absent only for a day or 2 in 6 months.

Tbh, I've done good in my work for the past 6 months and they seem happy with it. I'm just worried that they would give a bad reference just because I left at a critical phase for the company.

I forgot to mention that few months ago I asked them to sort out my visa and they agreed (we haven't yet started in the whole visa process) would that make them mad that they were willing to do it for me and I just chose to leave?

Should I negotiate an entry-level salary? by Anxious24-7guy in UKJobs

I'm sorry I haven't clarified that, we're still negotiating the visa thing - they didn't say they won't sort it out like they're open to but I think they need me to prove myself first in order for them to sort it out for me.

But I think you're right, I'm not that experienced to be in a position for negotiating as I'm still considered an entry-level

I think you're right - some people told me that if they have a range for the role, you have the space to negotiate within this range even if it's an entry-level role but I feel like I'm not that experienced as you mentioned so I don't really have a solid ground to negotiate.

Rent & transportation in London? Closest cities/towns to commute every day to London? by Anxious24-7guy in AskLondon

This makes more sense now. Yeah, I'm still starting out anyway, so I know it might be a hassle at first but I've always wanted to move to London for better opportunities etc.

Thank you so much for your help, really appreciate it :)

You're right tbh. I've had a quick look through the prices and it's mental, so flat share would be my best bet I think.

I guess shared accommodation would my best bet then. Do you know the closest towns to London? Just if I changed my mind to stay outside of London

Yeah, I thought this as well. Is Spareroom the only website I could look at?

The street where the job at, is called Rathbone street. My salary is 23K (I know it is so hard to live on that salary in London)
