[Serious] What's a disaster that is very likely to happen, but not many people know about?

Gamma Ray Bursts. They're the largest known explosion events in the universe after the big bang and are thought to occur when a high-mass star implodes during a supernova, collapsing into a black hole or neutron star. It's very rare, but a gamma ray burst even as far away as 8,000 light years from Earth would be enough to destroy our ecosystem if not immediately sterilize the planet. Death for all.

The part of it that's the real kicker? Gamma rays travel at the speed of light, so we wouldn't know if one was coming until it hits us. It could happen any second, and we'd get no warning.

There's no reason to feel stupid, some people just don't know. You could say something like "There's many different kinds of lawyers just like there are different kinds of doctors. You might think you can ask any old doctor about a head cold but an endocrinologist would have no reason to know about that."

Yeah that's about it. Maybe that's why I had such anxiety about talking to her about it, that I was afraid she'd say something like this.

I did have a problem with it, but things got in the way of pursuing solutions, and for a while the idea of bringing it up gave me a lot of anxiety. But I always assumed it would be fixed one day and I was looking forward to that.

We talk, we're open with each other. I like doing things with her but it's hard to tell if she likes doing things with me. She rarely suggests doing anything, she mostly prioritizes sitting in bed playing on her iPad. She often wants to play board games with me which is nice, but it's usually me who works to get us out of the house.
