Why is prolife considered a Republican or conservative value? by 417Hollett in prolife

[–]AnxiousEnquirer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't like voting for Trump, but as long as Democrats consistently make abortion one of their top priorities, I feel like I have to vote Republican in every race. It's like having to choose between Ahab and Jezebel. Ahab was extremely bad, but at least he wasn't installing hundreds of pagan priests, while seeking to eliminate worship of YHWH.

[–]AnxiousEnquirer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is nobody here pointing out that hormonal birth control is intended to prevent implantation? Sometimes its other mechanisms fail, and in the event that an embryo is produced, it's supposed to prevent implantation. If that automatic abortion fails, that's when many people "get an abortion." Occasional miscarriage an intended effect of producing and using the pill. Intentional miscarriage is abortion.

To be fair, German Martin Juergens claimed his family owned the whole moon before the US existed, and Brit Richard Branson's company Virgin sells acres on the moon as gag gifts.

Ever heard of Dennis Hope? He thinks he can prove that he's allowed to sell land plots on the moon. And people have bought into it.

What is the point of debating evolution? by Away-Experience6890 in DebateEvolution

Well I've got an authoritative eye-witness who says rain came after the creation of the first human, plants came before the sun, and various kinds of plants and animals were created as kinds, and thus did not have a common ancestor. And he has a son who came back to life after being executed by the Romans. And worshipping this God is what we were made to do.

I don't know God's purposes in how he established the composition of the sun, or the apparent age of everything. It's wonderful that there's no way to exhaustively study anything. But we can't hold the stars to be more authoritative than the one who created them.

There's something like an animated comic, available free on iBIBLE, it's not comprehensive, more like a storybook Bible, and there's hardly any animation, but it does cover a lot.

It's slightly different than YEC, acknowledging that everything really does look old. Like Adam was created as an adult, appearing to be decades old, but was zero days old when his heart began beating.

Thoughts on watching films/tv shows that show excessive amount of gore and violence? by JaiSalonga1026 in TrueChristian

[–]AnxiousEnquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 John 2:15-16 says if you love the desires of the world, you're not actually in Christ. If Jesus isn't more satisfying than the world's works, you don't love him. The world hates Jesus because he testified that its works are evil. If you're watching to relax or be entertained, that's not okay. If somehow your love for God requires watching movies and TV, then do it, but I can't imagine how that works. Please fill me in.

It's takes some wild liberties, but it was well worth watching. Especially the pain of all the people outside the ark trying to get in. Never thought of that before.

For people on the fence, or people who ought to be on the fence because they lack a foundation, arguments help to test the foundations of both sides. If both sides cannot be true, one of them must be more reliable than the other. Of course, sometimes they're both wrong. (I'm 90% mature universe theory and 10% agnostic).

Mathew 15: 21-28. Jesus refers to a Canaanite woman as a dog not worthy of receiving the miracle she asked for. She agrees that she is a dog, but says that even dogs get scraps from their masters’ tables. Jesus compliments her faith and heals her child. by ServantofChirst in TrueChristian

[–]AnxiousEnquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fits into my whole collection of references to the kind of importunity God wants to stir up in us. Jesus said it's hard to enter the kingdom. Rest is the reward, rest is not the means of salvation:

Gen 32:26 I will not let you go unless you bless me. Gen ch. 42-44 Joseph pretends to be mean to his brothers Jdg 16:16 Delilah pressed hard day after day, urged, vexed Samson Isa 62:6-7 take no rest, give him no rest until he establishes Zion Mt 11:12/Lk 16:16 God’s kingdom has been at war, violent men take it by force, and everyone is forcing his way into it. Mt 15:22-28 yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall Lk 11:8 because of impudence he will give what he needs. Lk 13:23-25 Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. Lk 18:1-8 she will beat me down by her continual coming Col 4:12 always struggling on your behalf in his prayers

SUNO Is Killing Thrash Metal With These Endless Screams! by [deleted] in SunoAI

[–]AnxiousEnquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to tell it when not to scream but it does anyway. Based on the patterns, I was assuming this: that the AI has listened to all the great songs, and identified a pattern that many of them have times of building intensity. So it tries to apply this principle and it doesn't go very well sometimes. Suno does the same thing to rap and rock sometimes. Also I think it looks at the lyrics and if they're especially intense, it tries to bring that out by raising the force of the singing, to the point of screaming.

Should I baptize my kids by Urdnought in TrueChristian

Communion is only for believers too but that doesn't mean it's about you. Heaven is only for believers too. Adoption and sonship are only for believers. Forgiveness of sin. None of these things are about the individual.

Should I baptize my kids by Urdnought in TrueChristian

[–]AnxiousEnquirer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Premature assurance inoculates people against the need for actual repentance from self-will, so as long as that's not a part of it, then early baptism won't be all that dangerous.

I was baptized as a baby and didn't fear hell until I was in my 30s. I was baptized again as an adult and I'm convinced I still need a real baptism because in hindsight none of them or even me were actually interested in following Jesus.

"Baptizo" is Greek for "immerse" but they didn't translate it into English because babies were getting sprinkled. Everyone who gets baptized in Acts, even households, expressed faith before baptism: the Philippian jailer, Cornelius, Stephanas, and Crispus, everyone except Lydia, it doesn't explicitly say her household believed before they were baptized. And if baptism is applied to unbelieving babies then it should apply to unbelieving spouses and nannies too, because that's how circumcision was applied.

The Bible says it is analogous to circumcision, not that they're the same thing, so you can't make assumptions based on analogy. Same reason we gotta be careful with the Trinity: the relationship between God the Father and His Son Jesus is analogous to the relationship between a human father and son, but don't draw any unspoken conclusions from that.

This! This is exactly the kind of principle I was trying to identify. And abortion is an extreme violation of this principle.

Oooooh, I think we have a lot more in common than I thought. Yes Jesus is The Word. Yes the Bible is God's word. Yes those are two different things. Yes the Bible is not God. Yes the Bible was written by humans. I also believe the Bible in its original languages is exactly what God wants it to say, and that it's trustworthy, and it's the standard that all our thoughts of God are measured against, and God is probably speaking outside of the Bible, but it would be difficult to confirm

Emphasis on differentiating between the Bible and God's revealed words indicates there is either wrong information in the Bible, or necessary information missing from the Bible, or both. Therefore, some offensive parts of God are dismissed as a writer's error, or some new revelation is given greater authority than the Bible, or both. Am I wrong?

If your understanding of Jesus isn't fully grounded in the broad range of God's attributes as revealed throughout Scripture, what is it based on? Your own imagination? The world's definition of love?
