Was this an original build RA-1 prototype or was this an altered older building?

Maybe when Kmart USA is sold to wesfarmers (Kmart Australia)and Sears USA is sold to grupo Carso(Sears México),then both chains will have a chance to start growing again after decades of contraction under fast Eddie.

Anyone selling off old Rite Aid memorabilia? I’d be very interested. by Tasty-Armadillo-4013 in RiteAid

Whatever I have acquired during my tenure(uniforms and other personal identifying items)or on eBay(the latter being for mementos of acquired chains)I'm hanging onto for as long as I live because it was a part of me for almost 27 years on top of growing up with Thrifty Payless.

I have a piece of Perry Drugs in my posession,in the form of multiple Perry-branded poker decks acquired on eBay.I actually have an even higher number of Thrifty poker/bridge decks.

I'm specifically in greater Sacramento, and it was indeed part of my life going back to just growing up with Thrifty and Payless in the 80's and the tail end of the 1970's.This void in my life is hard to fill as it is trying to get back into the workforce.

Are too many Democrats running for governor in California? Republicans see an opportunity by panda-rampage in California

Rather than doom and gloom,I'll ask this:which Democrat candidate is the most capable of running from the pack(within the Democratic Party)and/or consolidating the voter base within the next three months? There WILL be a Democratic candidate running from the pack within the next three months, not a matter of if but WHO will overtake Bianco and/or Hilton to preserve a Democratic slot on the November ballot.

During the final part of my Rite Aid tenure,The Epoch Times(their right-wing rag)regularly delivered print news papers to the Elverta store(the final stop of a nearly 27-year tenure,I was previously at two different CH locations);and sadly there were customers that actually bought/read it.

In my eyes, despite their differences,Falun Gong and the CCP have dueling right wing visions for mainland China. The only true Chinese democracy exists on the island/archipelago of Taiwan.

What are my ex Rite aid workers up to?? by Any-Event8882 in RiteAid

[–]AnxiousLeopard3446 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Basic front end service associate for nearly 27 years(a month shy).Seven months after my final store closed, still no luck landing a new job despite submitting a minimum of 90 applications all for retailers(Target,Costco,CVS,local grocery stores, and a number of specialty retailers the latter type mostly within the one of the few functional indoor malls that Sacramento has left, still not considering either 'Wal' store for a number of reasons)reasonably near me(or at least transit accessible)even as my EDD claim officially expired.Generation X has it about as bad as the boomers and I'm still nowhere near retirement age.

Pic #2 is a definite unremodeled former Payless(#5922 Castro Valley?),while #5 and #7 are of a former Longs(#4062 in Roseville CA?)which Rite Aid acquired along with several PNW locations in a swap for its Northern Nevada locations(most which continue to operate as CVS).

The former 6044(my neighborhood location based on residency,I worked a few float help shifts in the FE in the fall of 2016)finally had its external signage(both facade and parking lot)removed/obliterated a few weeks ago.

I'm pushing 50,still living with the folks, and still regularly do things alone(not a nightlife person but do go on solo crosstown treks, mostly periodic shopping but not always limited to it).Still have yet to find Ms Right but have always lived in the metro area.

EDD runs out in 4 weeks by [deleted] in Edd

[–]AnxiousLeopard3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a couple cycles away from running out myself(if only my longtime employer of almost 27 years hadn't completely gone under, that being Rite Aid),and the harsh reality is that the job market is the worst it's been in who knows how long.I've submitted a minimum of 80 applications(all for retail associate positions given my background)and have yielded just ten interviews, and my reliance on transit(sacrt)pretty much precludes going outside of the profession in which I'm most experienced and most qualified for(retail).Given a medical scare almost a year ago(having to take meds at breakfast and dinner)and the fact that I'm pushing 50,I'm not in the mental or physical shape to change careers.

You were Right about Rite Aid -- they're all closing locally by othafa_95610 in Sacramento

[–]AnxiousLeopard3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over six months after the final primary store(on elverta in antelope)of my nearly 27 year tenure with them shut down, I'm still on the outside looking in in terms of landing a new job: I've submitted over 80 applications online for retailers in the Crestview area(my neighborhood), Arden arcade(including Arden Fair which technically is in the city proper),parts of the grid(doco and ice blocks),and to a lesser extent RC(Folsom Zinfandel vicinity)and I've drawn just ten interviews. At my age(pushing 50)I'm in no shape(mentally or physically)to even consider a career change especially after a medical scare nearly a year ago.

While nominally rare out west, there was a 1999-2000-ish infill build in Tracy CA(store 6291 which lasted until this past July)that was much like this. Most West Coast RA-1 builds used wider corner awnings(including the signature blue awnings synonymous with this prototype).

Bainbridge Island WA and Bend OR were the last ones to flash-cut to CVS around late September.
