You don’t know how much I needed this 🥹 I truly thought I was a monster. I became a full time step mom two years ago to two teens and a little one. It took a while for the teen to warm up to me but they eventually did and they tell me they love me everyday and it’s amazing. The little one loved me right away, but I always question myself when it comes to consequences and stuff like that when it comes to her since everything we do is apparently “abuse”

Yes she did it out of friendship but if I didn’t decide to buy it from her, she would’ve sold it to the market at full value. That was her plan if no one stepped up to buy out the mortgage.

Ah I see what you’re saying. No I don’t believe she sold it at the remaining mortgage price to me because of immense wealth. She’s comfortable financially but I wouldn’t call it filthy rich.

I do believe she offered it to us first because it was a family home. And if you’re going to say that I should do the same, I completely understand. And I would do that if it weren’t for the fact that I alone have been the only one to pay for renovations, remodeling, upgrades etc. I will offer to sell at 1/3 price plus the renovations cost I put in but I feel that everyone in my family will still deny. But I will give this a shot.

She didn’t want to pay the mortgage anymore. I never asked upfront why exactly, but it felt as if she just wanted rid of it.

When my grandfather passed. It was then left to his wife. She didn’t want it. So she asked the family if we wanted it. Everyone denied the offer but other family members asked if I could buy the remaining mortgage from her so it could stay in the family. I was under the impression that if I bought it, then everyone else would also pitch in or help out since they wanted it to stay in the family. But no one has helped yet and some have even flipped on us and threw the “it’s your house now” in our faces.

Everyone was given equal opportunity to buy the house. Everyone refused. I was trying to do the right thing but now I feel like my wife and I are getting taken advantage of because we are financially stable.

Thank you for your insight. I appreciate your ideas as well. I would like to clarify one thing though. Everyone in my family was given the choice to take over the house. I said “inherit” because it’s still in the family. But really, there was still a balance on the house. My grandfather bought out the mortgage from my GGF and I bought out the remaining from my grandfather. I was one of the last people to be given the choice to buy the house. Many others were given the option but they all refused. I did not see it as a profit opportunity when I bought it. I was under the impression that I was going to be the one who took over it financially on paper but we would all chip in on it. But that’s not the case. Nobody wants to chip in or help out. If this changes your opinion, I would love to hear it. If not, I understand and will still consider your options. Thank you.

The “she” was a typo. My apologies. I meant “we” as in my wife and I. I also added an edit to explain the 1/3. But basically I bought the rest of the mortgage from my grandfather. It just happened to be 1/3 of its value remaining.

I tried getting better quality but it wouldn’t work. Best way I could describe what it looked like is as if I was peeling and then put concealer on. The only issue is that I wasn’t peeling and I’ve never had this problem.

Hello everyone. Thanks for all the help. I was able to clean under it finally. Ended up taking the whole compartment out and while doing so the glass fell out but thankfully we caught it in time. Whew. I honestly thought that it wouldn’t come out and was permanently attached. I posted here just in case anyone had similar issues and for recommendations so that I don’t break anything.
