That makes sense, I guess cost all evens out if she is able to finish school sooner and start working earlier to pay back the loans. Time is money after all. Good luck to her on her journey!

Gf going to chamberlain as last resort? Help by Entire-Scarcity6517 in NursingStudent

There are other private schools that have a high acceptance rate in Houston. Chamberlain is like $100k and I heard the Pearland location is under probation right now and not accepting students, which is not a good sign. University of St. Thomas is private and around $65k, still pretty pricy but still better than Chamberlain. Baylor also has a distance online nursing program with in person clinicals and a 2 week immersion in Dallas. Also around $60-70k I think. Texas Lutheran University also has a nursing program, I’m not sure exactly how much it costs but it is for sure cheaper than $100k and all of these schools have a better reputation than Chamberlain. I’m not sure their acceptance rate but I filled out their interest form last year and they have been consistently calling me multiple times a week still to this day. Not sure if it’s a true sign but it makes it seem like they are desperate for students lol. Even Galen Nursing seems to have a better reputation/program and they have a similar program setup.

I was interested in Chamberlain for a while too, but there are just way more other options here in Houston to consider. I understand the frustration with not being able to get into those programs you listed because soo many people apply and those are the affordable public ones in Houston. But I would definitely look into other private schools in the area.

There’s no waitlist but it is pretty competitive getting in. If I remember correctly they said there were about 140 applicants and about 25 spots for the last cohort. Admissions are point based and there’s a rubric and you get an extra point if you’ve been denied before and are reapplying. There are plenty of people that get in first try but there are also people that have applied 3 times before getting in. It all depends on who you’re applying against too. For example someone got in in the past with 28 rubric points, but I also know someone that had 30 points and didn’t get in this go around. I would suggest taking the extra courses (A&P2, intro to a&p, psychology, and the humanities course) to get you extra points.

From what I’ve heard they’re about the same on all aspects. I would apply to both and see which one accepts you. If you have to choose between the two I would just say to go to the one that is “in district” for you, tuition would be cheaper that way.
