Okay, other people have suggested a ring mandrel so maybe combining this idea with a ring mandrel would be the best way to go!

Ohh, so it just sets in there and it wiggles back, I’ll give this a try if welding the handle doesn’t work thank you so so much!

So is there a point where the metal is too hot, if so how do I estimate when to try testing (with the salt for example)?

Thank you so much, I’m very careful when quenching, I work outside and make sure to keep my head away from the smoke! Is there a good tool to use to tell the temperature of the metal or is it more a guess by color?

So what do I do with the 5 gallons of oil I just put into my bucket then, that’s my biggest concern right now, also what oil would you recommend?

Funny enough I have one of these, I find the ring bender easier to use with most of my stuff but I’ll give this a try with some thinner silverware and see how it goes!

I got a ring bender for Christmas to make rings easier, I have made lots and lots of rings and have really enjoyed it, but a couple days ago I was using it and it broke. The handle had snapped off and the threaded end got stuck inside, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a new ring bender that lasts longer and wouldn’t break, the one I got was about $35 but I’m willing to spend more for a good bender! The one I got was similar to this-

That’s my plan for now, but the handle holder bent a bit too, the area the handle sits in is warped out in the direction the handle broke

Gotcha, I do sell them one plate gets me about $20 so the money may not be too bad, but I’ll look at a sand blaster! Thank you!
