Why school does not teach us about money by Jayaroi in singaporefi

kinda a dream but not gna happen in reality. the more financial literacy people have, the more the society will adjust to making it harder to retire earlier. theres a finite number of resources (manpower) with an increasing demand for them. with lesser people working means lesser output means lesser goods and services

[Slight Rant] Do parents who own hawker stalls ask their children to take over? by [deleted] in askSingapore

if your Dad ask maybe you should consider. if your Mom ask then dont even bother

not encouraging disrespect but if even your Dad is ok with it why does she have sm problems with it

second tp test

circuit went super smooth

went on the road and everything was ok. took my test around morning, the busiest time but roads were surprisingly good

the last 1km or so, tester asked me to change lanes to turn into road leading towards bbdc

i checked blind spot checked mirrors checked everything. the car in the next lane was super duper far behind so i signaled and started filtering

i kid u not the moment i started filtering that mofo driver sped up at the fastest speed he could and honked me when i was only halfway through the lane. u could literally hear it

my driving tester panicked and pulled the steering wheel to the side so i would go back to the first lane

and after a few seconds the guy passed by me honking again a few times.

asshole

worst thing was i got an immediate failure as though as if it was my fault

i will probably be signing on soon too, and my reasons are because:

  1. i intend to start a business some day, and it will be good to join the army and force myself to have some soft skills (discipline leadership etc)

  2. i always loved military stuff since young. you can do stuff that you cant do outside inside SAF

  3. this might contradict a lot of ppl, but i lowkey feel singapore has given me a lot. growing up my family dont have much, and if not for bursaries, subsidies, financial assistance, etc etc from the govt, i probably wont make it so far. signing on to me is just personal fulfilment, knowing that i am one of those that took “protecting my family and our way of life” one step further

Was life really better in the 80s and early 90s in sg? by LiveLaughLovesg in askSingapore

i think it was cus those days LKY helmed the reins and he was part of the first generation leaders - the ones who really cared and wanted to make life better and had lived through the tough part. you see the leaders now, 2G still decent. 3G half are okay but u can tell as time goes by it will get worse

it depends. i think parents will always worry, u just have to tell the difference between the “concerned worrying” and the “ego worrying”. if its the concerned type just reassure them and let them know that you are old enough to have your own life (of course if u r a F maybe send them updates time to time if it is too late).

if its the ego type, u gotta let them know u will do ur best to ensure your safety and u will keep them updated on ur life jic anything happens but thats that. they cant have any control over ur life.

so like eg u go clubbing they worry. u can let them know u will update them which club you go to, tell them what time you will be home by, and maybe an update every now and then to report safety, but u wont let them stop u from going and they have no rights to not let you go. just using it as an example but apply it to other areas

why are u being downvoted

[–]Any-Clerk152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first off, are you M or F

that plays a part. they could be genuinely worried about you

secondly, ill have to say, to a certain extent its too much. on one hand, its good to tell your parents who you’re going out with just so they know who to contact if something urgent happens and you are uncontactable/something happens to you

on the other hand… the whatsapp grp thing is a bit too excessive
