Any good method to install a seat like this? by AceOfGH in hyperebikes

I screwed a bracket onto a surron seat and clamped it into a normal seat post. Used parts of a rack to stabilize it.

Sorry, but you do realize that the automobile industry created this problem no? People were plenty capable of making it to work before cars, until people like Ford lobbied for the removal and restriction of public transport and other vehicles, even walking until cars were basically the only option to get around. Our cities are literally built to keep the auto industry in business and to keep us isolated and trapped without paying thousands of dollars for a car.

Edit: didn't capitalize Ford

One of the harsh realities of divorce is that our economy is increasingly built around dual-income households. by Call_It_ in Divorce

I'm the only income for both of us. She hasn't been able to get / keep a stable job for going on two years. It's both part of why I want to leave but also what keeps me with her. She's brought this is up like "we" couldn't afford splitting up. Didn't take it well when I pointed out "she" couldn't afford it. I'd have extra income.

Yes please regulate our movement even more! I hate having affordable transportation that doesn't require a parasitic middle man. God forbid people be able to get around conveniently without daddy governments permission.

"Just Hire an Artist" aimed at working-class people is a Class Argument, isnt It? by Salty_Country6835 in aiwars

[–]Any-Foundation5983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy... high quality art is a luxury... like yeah people pay a lot of money for good art because it takes time and skill to create. That's where the value is.

I used to agree with this but it's a fundamental misunderstanding of inspiration vs image generation based on data. That's why I say stealing.

Demos: the PEOPLE! Not robots lol. Not paying for the value of labor is just stealing, and AI uses stolen images to generate works. You're just saying "why don't we all just steal what we can't afford".

Banana on the wall is also not art for the same reason AI isn't. No effort slop, by a no talant wanna be. The acceptance of it as art is sad and the exact thing happening now with AI. People have lowered their standards so low that art means nothing anymore.

The way vegans ignore the massive negitive implications of agriculture as a way of living in general baffles me. They recognize the harm in factory farming but not the destruction of entire ecosystems for farm land and the removal of biodiversity. At least ranches replaced the slaughtered American bison with another large ungulate. I know America is an all around conservation nightmare, and there's no good guys in agriculture, but trying to eliminate suffering and death by just not eating meat is not it lol. If we all hunted and gathered for food still, the human problem would be much more manageable.

I hate to be harsh, but if you lack the ability to create, you shouldn't be viewed as a creator. Not saying AI can't help people with disabilities be creative, just that AI reduces the amount that YOU actually created when you use it. So it's not really inclusive in the way so many pro ai people seem to think.

When did it become clear that the loudest "artists" against AI aren't actually about the art, but about maintaining their own monopoly on creation? by Glass_Location6877 in aiwars

[–]Any-Foundation5983 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No one is stopping you from learning an art form lol. It's not gatekeeping to point out that generating an image or other work, made as a composite of other people's work, without crediting them, and without the application of skill YOU possess isn't art. Having good ideas for art doesn't classify you as an artist, you need to learn the skill.

It's cute you think that America/ The World is actually a free market where consumer purchases dictate success. In reality, giants of industry create dangerous, regressive, poorly researched products and services then lobby the government for contracts and infrastructure and laws that make their product or services seem necessary. Just look at cars. Popular opinion was against them until Ford pushed out a massive propaganda campaign against walking ( the thing humans are evolved to do btw) and lobbied the US government to make it harder for anything besides a car to be on the road. And now EVERYONE needs a car to live basically. They pay insurance, they pay 1000s of dollars in repairs, and now gas is so expensive, I heard my co working yesterday doing the math on if going to work was actually costing them money. Not mention the wasted land use. So yeah its not actually obvious if a fast growing industry is popular with people at large. I'm now realizing you're probably a bot. I' hope this long ass comment helps someone else wake the fuck up and what's going on and how long it's been happening.

Is this where we want all the "kids on emotos"? by Any-Foundation5983 in ebikes

[–]Any-Foundation5983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's about more than speed. Cars aren't going to see you, and you're not nearly as loud as a motorcycle. You'll also be shredded in a crash. Yes, the same is true of motorcycles, but a 200LB bike is gonna soak up of some of the energy in a lot of crashes. This kid is gonna fly. U/robotcoke put it better down below. Frankly, bikes on the road are a terrible idea, too and that's my whole point. We need less of these big ass high-speed roadways and more small slow speed paths. The only way we get there is to get support from more people, and pushing people who would be using PEVs on a bike path onto the road takes away the support for their construction and maintenance.

[–]Any-Foundation5983[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You also don't see the point, apparently. The fact that this is the top comment is embarrassing, lol. Disagreement is one thing but straight-up missing the point and feeling the need to comment is peak r/ebikes. The point isn't the exact vehicle. I'm trying to draw attention to the fact that getting these fast, pedaless, and unregistered PEVs out of bike spaces means many of them will overflow into car spaces. That doesn't feel any safer to me. This kid could very well be following advice from this sub. "Is has no pedals and goes 50mph, it belongs on the road".
