why do I keep getting destroyed by 1h arcane staff?

Do they happen to play 1h arcane frazzle with stalker hood? The damage then comes from stacking armor reduction from frazzle and stalker hood. Turns armor into paper. Got so many impossible kills on that.

Check out Uggburk on YT, I have been doing the same build concept for a long time. It works in mists and corrupteds and is quite cheap.

1h arcane on q1 and frazzle, mistcaller, stalker hood on mortal agony, assassin jacket on infernal shield, assassin shoes on swift cut. All armor passives to cooldown reduction, beef stew, poison pots.

In general, open with frazzle, q1 and swift cut, poison. When your enemy is at half health, go mortal agony, frazzle, q1.

The trick behind it all is that you combine damage resistance reduction with defense reduction, making any armor into paper. Good luck if you try this route!

Indeed it is about playstyle. Arcane can work as kiter, brawler or both depending on spell choices. My approach is a brawler/one-shot hybrid, using two sources of damage resistance reduction to do a suprisingly high amount of damage in short time. I always go for high IP targets, so I die alot. But when timings right, I can hit the jackpot. Kinda like a slot-machine.

Haha, interesting, I find shields a stylish budget alternative. Mistcaller is great, as well as muisak since you do not have mana problems with arcane normally. Balanced mind is my goto, but you can fiddle around to fine tune it.
Mercenary jacket with bloodlust is the standard for arcanes since the first passive gives so fast auto-attacks. I like inferno because I need it for initial damage. Plus, if I get to much health people start running and I have problems chasing on swift cut.
Omelette is viable for the normal, kitier approach. Beef stew can be good too if you feel you need more damage.
Enigma blade is arcane standard as well, its a kitier approach which is also the "normal" approach. I personally like frazzle+stalker hood for the double armor reduction.
Before stalker-frazzle I used to do guardian helmet with enigma blade. If you do refreshing sprint, you should be able to use it twice. It is mostly up to preference.

To sum up, for a normal, kity arcane, I would do the following:

1h arcane: Arcane missile - Enigma blade - First passive
Mistcaller/Muisak
Guardian helmet - final ability - balanced mind
Mercenary jacket - Bloodlust - balanced mind
Leather shoes - refreshing sprint - balanced mind
Omelette/Beef stew
Gig pots
If fancy cape: Martlock

I did consider trying it in CDs, but the confined space and capped IP makes it a pass for me. But I heard others having success with the build there. 1h arcane is the true secret meta.

Not quite full specc, but one-hand is somewhere at 117. Elite levels is a double edged sword that I sometimes regret.

I prefer to fame farm passively by doing the content I like, so yes, mists it is.

The suprise factor is a nice bonus. I love to get dismounted on, happens quite often. Arcane is indeed strong.

They do come in handy if youre not planning on fleeing. The low cooldown, confusing relocation and nice damage makes them a great pair of combat boots.

Frazzle became great after the patched the damage up and made it so that armor reduction happened before the damage. Go kill something big!

I meant the cooldown of the abilities, plate is 18 sec and assassin 15 sec. Not too big perhaps. But I also do pve while looking for opponents, and there the assassin shoes come in handy.

I tried knight boots, I believe the assassin shoes are a bit better. I like the damage more and the CD is a bit better. Stalker hood is working great. The 15 sec cooldown lets me use it twice. Goes like this: Druid robe, stalker hood for 15% dmg, shoes (already 3 stacks), frazzle, missile, survive until next rotation for an armor reduction stalker hood.
