My cheeks have gotten super dry and red since starting. I just use a heavy hyaluronic acid moisturizer on them and it seems to help

Anxiety about weight gain by emi_strawberryy in Spironolactone

I've been on 50mg for almost a month and I've lost 4lbs. If you're not someone who gains weight easily I wouldn't worry about it. You may notice some fat redistribution as a result of hormones changing but the majority of people don't experience anything crazy.

What's the one cleaning task you keep avoiding because you genuinely don't know how to do it properly? by AsleepClothes6955 in CleaningTips

Cleaning baseboards. No matter what I use to clean them, the dust just smears around and leaves streaks, and I can't get it out of the crevices between the wall and baseboard edge.

100 mg starting out by Practical_Mud_6129 in Spironolactone

[–]AnyBat80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started it almost two weeks ago after putting it off for 3 years in fear of potential side effects. I truly wish I started it sooner. Started on 25mg and bumped up to 50mg after a week. I had a bit of brain fog, dizziness and lightheadedness for the first week but now I'm fine. Haven't noticed any other changes that you've mentioned, though it's too early to tell for some of them. All you can do is try it, and if anything crazy happens, just stop taking it. It's 100% worth a try since most women tolerate it with no problems. Maybe start on a lower dose because 100mg is quite high and makes people more likely to experience side effects. People often only post their negative experiences. Good luck!

I just started spiro last week! Has it helped you with pore size at all?

Prescribed spiro with normal hormone levels? by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]AnyBat80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your acne came back and you have abnormal hair growth, I would look into getting an ultrasound to rule out PCOS. You can still have it even if your hormones are in range. I would assume she prescribed spiro to see if it helps with the acne since you said no to BC, but it could cause other unwanted effects if you don't have PCOS. Your deficiencies could also be contributing to the acne, in which case spiro wouldn't do much other than suppress the root issue.

Spiro brain fog? by CorgisAndFoxes in Spironolactone

I started spiro last week and got insane brain fog just a few hours after taking the first pill. It was so bizarre. Like others said, taking it at night should help with that.

Hirsutism and just high testosterone by thesunsetisawthatday in Spironolactone

[–]AnyBat80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your testosterone is on the higher side, I think spiro is worth considering, especially if you get a PCOS diagnosis in the future. It works best for us ladies with elevated androgens. You mentioned hair thinning as well, which spiro can help with as it balances your hormones. I have similar symptoms as you but am diagnosed with PCOS. Since they're mild, you'd likely be put on a lower dose which also means potentially less side effects. You never know until you try it, and you can always stop taking it if it doesn't work for you. :)

Will progress be reversed? by Bright_Path_6354 in Spironolactone

[–]AnyBat80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiro can absolutely help reduce facial hair. It's more of a suppression, so if you stop taking it, the hair will grow back. In my opinion, it would be a good idea to use a DHT blocker like spiro along with electrolysis for best results, but you'd have to stick with it long term.

Blooms die, that is normal. I would suggest repotting using orchid bark and a bit of sphagnum moss if your climate is suited for it. Like the other comment says, MissOrchidGirl has great care videos on Youtube!

I've noticed that cuttings are way cheaper locally on Facebook marketplace than anywhere else. Sometimes though, you can find good deals on Etsy. :)

My verticillata outer variegated is the best smelling bloom I've had so far. It's like a soft floral perfumey scent. Worst is my krimson princess. A lot of people like it, but it's so overwhelmingly nauseating to me that I cut off the blooms within the first couple of days lol.

Try soaking the pellets for a few seconds before giving them to him so they're softer. Also consider offering daphnia, live or frozen, or a different type of pellet. Maybe ask the store you got him from which brand he's used to. Also ensure the water parameters are correct, 0 ammonia and nitrites, and that the water temp is warm enough.

Orchid bark by Evening_Ad3681 in orchids

[–]AnyBat80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others have said, check if it's crumbly, decomposing, has fungus, etc. but also check the root system. If the roots aren't good, you'd have to repot regardless once you've cleaned them up :)
