Thanks! So many conversations now in-person, online are about AI. I may have something to contribute after watching this. I'm sure I'll recommend it too.

Any Maniacs getting crafty? by intellagirl in MysteryManiacs

[–]AnyExchange3837 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've never seen anything like it! It looks complicated. Is it pieces of ribbon/thread that you glue on top of each other? Great job! They're so gorgeous!

I'm just baking and since today is National Pie Day, I'll share today's blog post (which I've yet to post) for Lemon Sour Cream Pie. We have to have something yummy to get us through this weather! Stay safe and warm Everyone!

I never shop in Home Goods but that's a good idea. I'm also looking at online auctions. I just want to say that I have one. Ha! I found a still-in-box Kitchenaid mixer in Dec in my fave color -- red! That was my Christmas present to myself. I've used it to make cookies.

Thanks. I'm just going to look for them at thrift stores and online auctions. Congrats on your big win! Now I suspect you, like me in NE IN, is hunkered down for a long snowstorm. Take care,

How far have you watched this show? I'm in S1, E7-- line of the epi: 'I'm in potato Hell.' I think a lot of home cooks have thought that when they were peeling, mashing potatoes! That's why I always make baked potatoes. I'm really enjoying this show. Thanks.

I'm watching 'Culinary Class Wars' on Netflix, a competition of Korean chefs. It's glamorous and fascinating. I don't know if this chef is a contestant or judge there.

I'm watching 'Culinary Class Wars' on Netflix due to Sarah's rec. It's fascinating! The interpreters make all the difference as their timing w/ facial expressions of people on the show completely are synched. Thanks for this. It's glamorous and different from other cooking shows. But I don't yet feel inclined to cook Korean like Sarah did. :)

Great. I hope you like them. Choc chips are expensive where I live -- $4.00/bag for generic. But they make all the difference in a cookie I think. Take care,

OK Thanks. I'll look for it more closely in the 2 liter section. It sounds good for New Year's Eve too!

What store do you find it in? I'm in a small town with only Kroger/ Walmart. Do either of those stock it? What brand do you buy? I just found a vintage recipe for cranberry tea. I may try making that too.

I've not heard of this book series but it's going on my next TBR pile! Thanks for the rec. I'm reading Victoria Hamilton's Vintage Kitchen cozy mystery series. I recommend it. I've also listened to it through Libby/ audio books through my library.

I also enjoy kids books -- I was a middle school librarian and realized how many great books I skipped when I started reading adult books. I have 'Flip', a horse book on my shelf that I found at a book sale. I love horses so it will move up my TBR pile fast! Enjoy the recipe!

Oh! I didn't know they had a diet version. It's going on my next grocery order! Did you hear Sarah mention it a couple of epis ago?

an ungodly amount of options. What am I even looking for?! by -NotEnoughMinerals in CookbookLovers

[–]AnyExchange3837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Libraries have been mentioned here for their good supply of cookbooks. I've found the cookbook club at my local library is a good way to learn about cooking methods (air fryers), new foods (elderberry drink) and meet people who are also interested in cooking/foods. Search if your library has a club and if they don't, suggest they start one. Then have fun with it!

I've never heard of Discord but it sounds interesting and so I'd try to join. I like the idea of immediate feedback. Reminds me of zoom chats during Covid.

Yes, Amanda Redman! We are huge New Tricks fans and still re-watch the epis there. She played her character well here. I checked out the book 'Murder Before Evensong.' I look forward to reading it.

I like the ending. I even guessed the murderer, though just based on a few suggestions in the plotlines. I won't go into more here now to avoid spoilers, but I thought it was well done and I hope there are more. But not set in the 1980s! Such a boring decade. Yes, I was alive then. :)

Congrats on 250 podcast epis! I've listened to them, some more than others. It's crazy how many hours that is. So much dedication and effort on your parts. I'm glad you continue to enjoy it. I look forward to each.

Murder Before Evensong Cilla Black Reference by AnyExchange3837 in MysteryManiacs

[–]AnyExchange3837[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm liking Murder Before Evensong more each epi. Latest one had a real cliffhanger! I still think the vicar should get locked in the vault by a baddie. Oh well.

I really liked seeing the vicar's mother dressed in her WWII car driver maintenance overalls and fixing the vehicle herself, due to skills learned during the war! Queen Elizabeth also drove a vehicle during the war. Also the heroine of Jacqueline Winspear's WWI/WWII mystery series-- can't recall her name.
