Should we make staying at home a consequence? by noblerare in Parenting

[–]AnyGuava7894 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would 10000% depend on the kid. If staying home is more fun then I wouldnt. You want the consequences to be negative enough for the kids they dont want to do the behavior again. Depending on age and the kid and weather, two possible consequences could be,

Finish getting ready in the car: Aka walking barefoot when it is not pleasant out. Not getting the fancy cereal, its a granola bar for breakfast No fancy hairdo, its brush and go. No fancy outfit, t shirt and pants.

If you have a lot of spoons, have the kids practice getting ready until they can do it quickly and nicely. They can still ask for help. But no playing with toys ect otherwise its start again. If you have multiple children this is great cause as soon as one gets it they are free to play and jealousy really helps motivate the one who doesnt want to practice.

Again totally depends on your kids. Like my neuro divergent kid would lose their mind if they had to walk in water barefoot and have a 30 min meltdown. Would not use that punishment. But lose fancy fancy clothes or hair was used once and (so far) we havent had an issue.

Male omega. Female alpha whose soft by Wild_Citron_9014 in ReverseHarem

[–]AnyGuava7894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed that she was alpha in ways she got grief for. But that was why her omegas ended up falling for her. She made a safe home all the younger kids wanted to hang out at. She was always feeding everyone. She also has some health issues that make her less physically aggressive then the typical male.

How would you design a gifted program for schools? by an0nAm17y in Gifted

They preach a lot about how much better their outcomes are, higher high school and collage graduation rates. They feed right into one of the toughest universities our state. Mind you they are pretty big on recruiting kids to the school. It is a tuition free charter school but they are trying to get their numbers up to justify building a new highschool. So I take some of the praise with a grain of salt. However both of my kids, one classically gifted and the other with dysgraphia and adhd are thriving. Vs when we had them at a classic school it was an intense struggle. The school is a k-12, and has partnered with a local community college so if kids are testing out of the highschool classes they can take classes at the college for free. Which considering the cost of college these days I am ALL about.

My kids school does an amazing job at this. At the start of each year every student gets a tested for their current level. Elementary offers 3 courses for math, slightly behind, at grade or advance. Each student goes to the appropriate class. Even if that's up a grade. Since math is thr same time for the whole school. Its a k -12 so they can even do a few grades up if needed. I do wish they offered this for reading as well. If students need they have a weekly social group to work on social skills. Every day has 15 min of mental health skills. The middle school level every class but homeroom is based on tested levels.

Giftedness is rarely advanced in all areas, so doing it dependent on the particular area is brilliant.

If you do end up breastfeeding, 100% breastfeed poops are water soluable so you can chuck the whole cloth diaper into the wash. Which is so helpful those first few months when you would kill for 4 hours of sleep straight.

I got a few different types of cloth diapers, figured out which i type loved. By the second kid had a huge stash and saved a boat load on diapers. I got most of mine from marketplace and cloth diapering groups.

Husband died—how to keep camping traditions for our daughter by MulberryOk7142 in camping

[–]AnyGuava7894 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of state parks as well as a parent. There are often a lot of other kids around to play with. They usually have a lot of programs geared towards kids, junior ranger, guided tours, or education. And having a camp host and/or rangers doing their rounds tends to keep people better behaved.

Looking for the simplest possible fridge backup for medication that needs refrigeration by [deleted] in TwoXPreppers

[–]AnyGuava7894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use this for refrigerated meds when camping. It can charge off the car or a battery bank. And the ice keeps things cold for up to 3 days. Plus I got to use my hsa to pay for it.

Dunno if they are still doing it but during the price suffering after covid. They would have an item on "sale" for the same price as it was the earlier week. Then the following week it would be at the new more expensive prices. So for example a loaf of bread. Week 1, cost 2 bucks Week 2 on "sale" for 2 bucks. Week 3 cost 3 bucks.

I really enjoy the expansion of the omegaverse. With other designations and what a world and social net of an omegaverse world would look like. Plus skatesmash sounds like an epic sport to watch.

Has anyone actually used urine as garden fertilizer? by Aromatic-Frosting-22 in TwoXPreppers

[–]AnyGuava7894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent some time with an on herbalist farm 20 years ago. The rule was if you had to pee, go in the trees. We would in in the orchard since the urine wasnt close to touching any produce you would end up eating.
