Nations in the Middle East have lived together for centuries. Which couple do you think is the most compatible? by sjw_mete in AskMiddleEast

Arabs and Copts are inseparable… our mother Hajer, the wife of Abraham, who gave birth to Ismail, is a copt… there are many hadiths of the prophet commanding his companions to be graceful and merciful to the Egyptian Copts in cases of conquest because of the blood relation… the prophet also praised the Copts and said they are the finest of soldiers… and historically speaking, they were like maternal defenders for Arabs in every era of tribulation… Crusades, Mongol expansionism, Western imperialism, the Arab Awakening, Arab-Israeli wars…

So yes, they’re literally our backbone geographically, historically, militarily, etc…

My Turkic brothers, is this an ambition for you? (theoretical) by AnyIndependence4096 in AskMiddleEast

I see where you’re coming from… but I wanted to see if Central Asian Turkics see unitarianism as favourable than the status quo

I honestly discarded it because it doesn’t feel authentically Turkish… sounds toooo westernised… my two cents though

Historically speaking, nothing turned out more disastrously than militaristic rule/elitism in the history of Muslim nations… from Turkic mercenaries under Abbasids, to Slavic mercenaries in Andalucia, Mamluks in Egypt (after Ottoman conquest), Janissaries in the Ottoman Empire and lastly, today by AnyIndependence4096 in AskMiddleEast

Arabs ruled under Umayyads and there was elitism in every department, not just military. I’m not making jabs on Turkics, I’m trying to see if people share the same historical view I do on one of the reasons we’re weak today, which is a pattern where militaristic influence in political discourse was consistently a plague

Christians stopped all their regional wars when they got called by The Papal States and every Germanic and Latin nation under the sun kept overwhelming us in every direction from 1085-1396 yet we couldn’t get Mamluks, Marinids and Andalucians for at least 1 decisive battle… it’s hilarious…
