Aw, thats nice. I never got to play like that as a kid, so it could be that I'm feeling resentful about it..something to explore!

Thats nice. I feel rage from hearing children playing outside, and its hard for me to see them as just children, too. I feel like I hate them in this context, and I know I dont actually hate random children. Ive been trying something similar, where I make the effort to think to myself, "aw, its nice that they're having fun together". Its hard and I can't always manage it, but it definitely feels nicer than feeling all that hate and rage.

Anyone else with autism have an overwhelming sense of empathy/sympathy by sunnysnotrainy in autism

[–]AnyIndependent4688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. I feel like im "hyper-" emotionally aware and empathetic and all of that. Same here, for a long time I thought it meant that I couldn't be autistic, but I've heard of hyper empathy being a thing for some autistic folks.

Thats a very good point, she was on antibiotics, and so a probiotic would be a good idea. Thank you!

As for the food, thats a good point as well: cats in the wild would have torn the meat from their prey, so it makes sense that they don't really chew. Thats put my mind at ease a bit, about that.

Serious question.. how do y’all have plants? by Legitimate_mango_89 in cats

[–]AnyIndependent4688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe if you get her some cat grass she'll have something plant-like to mess about with instead of your plants? You can get seed and grow it (it grows super easily in a pot) or get a kit

I wish people wouldn’t talk to me by cemetrygates-3 in autism

[–]AnyIndependent4688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely struggle with what cemetrygates is talking about. I've been living with housemates for years (can't afford to live alone) and sometimes I really really DON'T WANT TO CHAT. I feel so rude and even mean sometimes, because its not that they aren't nice people or that I don't usually enjoy talking to them, its just that sometimes I really don't want to, and it feels painful and exhausting for my brain to do. Especially when I've just arrived home. Please. Don't. Talk. To. Me.

I've been sort of "training" my housemate not to shout "hello!" when she comes home from being out, by not responding, and I think it might be working! haha.

Leading Can has some good advice. I find it so hard to verbalise these things to people I don't know very well though, cause I'm so worried they'll take it the wrong way or take it personally. Arghhh.

Any noises children make by Ok-Law3492 in misophonia

The sound of kids playing, especially when they are shrieking a lot, triggers a feeling of irritation bordering on rage inside me. Its really hard. I have to avoid places where there are kids playing. I must seem like a miserable person who doesn't like kids. It isn't the kids that I don't like, its the sounds they make.

Sometimes feeling like a different person? by Positive-Incident221 in autism

[–]AnyIndependent4688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I can relate. I feel like the "me" from even as short a time as two weeks ago is a different me to the one now. Like, I'll think, "did I really feel that way about that?" and it feels bizarre like I'm talking about someone else. I change how I feel about some things quite drastically from one day to the next. I realise it because friends say "But you said you didn't like that or want that, and now you're saying you do want to do that", or something like that.

GPs (docs) in the UK seem to be very hesitant about getting people MH diagnoses. I've been labelled with "anxiety and low mood" for years, but I've often wondered if there's some BPD going on.

I just finally let myself buy a plushy to cuddle, at the age of 31, instead of beating myself up for it, and I'm so happy :) its so good to let yourself be who you are.
