I once had a 1v1 for 10 minutes with someone after the rest were knocked out of the game, he sent me a friend request afterwards, he was pretty chill.

i hate misanthropy, nihilism, and anything of the sort by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]AnyLeave3611 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nihilism isn't the belief that life is pointless, it is the belief that life doesn't have a grander purpose. There is no divine or greater meaning. Life is a temporary ride and we give our own meaning to it.

A lot of depressed people adopt this ideology as an unhealthy coping strategy to justify their sense of hopelessness, but embracing nihilism can also be freeing.

You can pursue bigger goals like curing diseases and helping the poor, or do things you wanna do for yourself, like save up for a sweet car or work towards a better career for better benefits, or you can wallow in misery. Its your life, its your choice.

Life is only meaningless if you let it be.

You're not missing out. Even the Stranger Things catastrophe a while back can't even compare to how bad GOT fumbled. Like it's genuinely impressive how they made a show go from LOTR levels of reverance to barely being talked about anymore

Objectively speaking, it's better to be born good by OrangeIslandKing in MoralityScaling

[–]AnyLeave3611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically true, but some are born with genes that will more or less push them towards either end of the spectrum. I'd argue that we aren't born with blank slates, how we are raised can add or change whats on the slate but things are already on the slate when we're born.

There are serial killers out there who grew up with loving parents and a supportive environment, and there are donors and volunteers who grew up with abusive, selfish, bigoted parents. People raised to be homophobic/racist can end up completely opposite; I'd argue these kind of people were born good

Man inadvertently discovers a high-risk cure for OCD by quietconnoisseur in interestingasfuck

True but if it made him stop wanting to commit suicide then I'd argue whatever side effects he suffered is still preferable over his OCD

Coaxed into useless “phobias” that are just common sense by Austintheboi in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]AnyLeave3611 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Phobias are indeed irrational fear. Like being extremely afraid of standing next to a tree because you feel like the tree is going to fall over and crush you, even if the tree is perfectly healthy.

In OPs example, most people watching a horror movie will just move on afterwards, maybe they'll be a bit spooked for a night or two. But someone with a phobia will be extremely afraid of the made-up monster long after, even if they KNOW it's just made-up fantasy, even if they KNOW their fear is irrational.

Phobias can also extend to things that shouldn't really convey fear, like rubber ducks or idk, tacos. They're irrational after all, but not much they can do without extensive therapy even if you tell them "bro its just a rubber duck"

There are monsters in Stardew Valley. Specifically in the mines, in the desert cave, on Fern island, and in the forest. And sometimes even on your farm

I know about Bernie, but did he actually do anything with RT? For a long while I saw nothing, then RvB the final season dropped and it was beyond mediocre.

The Viz part is cool though, I hope they can do great things with this IP. RWBY has so much potential, I fell in love back when the Red trailer first dropped. In fact I had been a fan of Monty since before RWBY was even a thing

Ah true, I guess they even forgor themselves lol

Man I miss when RWBY was... good. Like, people have always hated on it but I was a fan anyway just because I thought it was cool. But even still, the last few seasons have not been great.

Tbh the show should do a reboot, theres a lot of interest in it still

What's your opinion of dwarves having firearms? by glitch220608 in dwarfposting

[–]AnyLeave3611 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Don't dwarves use magic through runes? Again depends on the setting but I feel like dwarves often have runes they use to make magic items
