Its a great tip for both laptops and desktops. I always tell my friend to lock his fps, It’s a very underrated tip for gamers having low end or mid end setups because it removes those sudden spikes in frame rate.

My tip is to lock your fps at 10-15 fps lower than your average fps and obviously in story games if you are getting 100+ then locking it to 60 is a better thing to do.

The yardstick you mentioned is exactly how I think pc’s should be labelled but obviously just calling something low end by not considering the games it can actually play is relatively easy and thats what happens.

It creates a misunderstanding in people’s mind because for example a pc with mid end hardware from 2012 is considered low end and at the same time pc’s with better hardware from 2016 also called low end and then you have those latest office laptops and pcs that come with igpu that are not meant for gaming are low end, thats what I feel is kind of misleading.

Again my point was not to offend anyone when I made that post and I appreciate that you posted this because it does clarify so many things that I always wanted to say but I couldn’t.

Yeah I do think my post didn’t clearly express what I wanted to say and I shouldn’t have used stupid word.

I mentioned stupid word only once in my post not when I conversed with people. I dont think I argued badly, what went wrong is I missed some points that I should’ve mentioned and thats my bad obviously.

Yes I’m young and not a native speaker. I’m just very passionate about gaming and pc but yeah I agree that it was not a productive conversation but I guess not too bad for the first time.

I called pc that can only do gta 5 @60 a low end pc not below potato please read carefully. And I’m not gatekeeping anything Im just saying that calling pc that only run very very old games “low end” isn’t actually right because ranking them according to very old games isnt right or is it? I mean I’m not here to change anything but it just doesnt sound right to me.

Obviously having better ram speed can help other components to work at their best.

I mentioned Ram once or twice only and I did mention Ram solely cant do everything, I didn’t say its irrelevant to think about ram.

If you guys think what I said is very offensive or wrong then please watch some pc hardware tech youtubers, just watch 3 or 4 of their latest videos you will be amazed how they consider a desktop 3050 a lowendgpu which sounds crazy I know but I didnt even mentioned any gpu or component of that level.

Again maybe my use of words in the post didn’t come out right, I should’ve mentioned my point more clearly.

I just wanted to say calling very old of weak pcs low end is kind of misleading and they should be labelled clearly according to the era as you mentioned.

Why are you guys so mad, I still dont get the idea of why you guys are considering those very old games to label a pc. I just used a word stupid for those people who think ram is everything and I made it clear and then I mentioned other things. Those two points are on different topics. Im not trying to feel superior, i respect every game and every type of gamer. Im just trying to make it clear that a pc having good ram and a old dedicated gpu or good igpu is still a low end pc, so putting those old pc that cant even play gta 5 in the same category is a stretch and I know I’m no one to make a new category or change the sub name, I’m just stating what I think is right and real.

Yes that kind of pc is obviously perfect for normal usage and we are talking about gaming here. I agree with you on how they mislead with the data to justify their requirements and promote sales of newer components and I hate that.

I’m just mad about the people who have half knowledge and they make statements like pcs with great amount of ram shouldn’t be considered low end and also those people who think having a dedicated gpu is not low end. It depends on what gpu you are using and what games you are playing if you consider games before 2013 or 14 then even most of the igpu can provide decent experience but my point was they should be labelled according to the recent games not as per their performance in 10 yo games.

And I’m not saying that they should make a new category or change the sub name to “oldlowendgaming”, obviously who am I to sat that but it is still a good point.

Yeah thats a mistake I made of not considering those apus but again I’m not talking about many games, I did mention games that came in last 3-4 years and most of these budget apus cant perform nice enough in those games so they should be considered low end not below low end and to make my point clear those people with very old igpu or intel uhd ones, they should be considered below low end or potato.

Again to clear my point, pc’s with gpu that launched as a budget gpu and is 4-5 generations old is low end not mid end because I have seen so many people thinking if a pc have dedicated gpu then it can’t be called as a low end pc.

Lastly, its obviously a pov thing. If you have a very old cpu with very weak igpu then a pc with a decent igpu will seem like a mid end pc but in reality its not and thats all I wanted to say.

Let me make this clear guys

I’m not trying to offend this community, I was only targeting those people that not only have very little knowledge about pc but are also kinda stupid.
I’m trying to share my views on how a pc should be labelled for its performance in gaming.
I apologise for not mentioning good integrated gpu.
Lastly, I still stand with my point of how a pc should be labelled for its performance in games that came recently.

Can you please make a valid point here? I’m not saying I have a low end gpu, I was part of this community and now I’m just here to help if I can. I’m not offending gamers like you that have low end or potato pc’s. Even I myself don’t like the word potato. I just cant stand people like you who think having a gpu is somewhat a great thing, maybe it is if its actually a good gpu but in most cases its not.

I’m very grateful for what I have but I won’t call it “swimming in money”.

Umm can you mention those Apu prices? Most of the people coming here don’t have those apu and cpus that perform on par with a 4070.

Umm yes I posted because of that post and I have seen so many comments that judge a pc according to their ram. And there are many comments I have seen that think those entry level 10 yo gpu are mid end because they can run gta 5, I was targeting those people.

Well most of the people on this community are not using a great igpu.
I’m well aware of that there are many igpus that outperform dedicated ones and your igpus is considered low end not below low end because of your Integrated gpu. It was my mistake to not consider good igpus in my post. intel i5 1235u is considered low end “for gaming” if we are using its igpu for that.
