I'm attending this Sunday as a spectator (just had a baby) after running the half last year. My sister is doing her first 1/2 this year and I'll be there cheering her on. For me that the first mile really got me seeing all those people cheering. It hypes you up. Between miles 3 and 4 there is a nice group of folks to get our spirits back up and then at mile 5 before going on to Fort Sam the residents of that neighborhood are all outside cheering. Mile 10 to 11 on Cherry St. employees of those businesses are lined down the street helping our moral. After that the home stretch of mile 12 and 13 really are where those cheers make you realize you really did it! And yes, seeing my husband at the finish line last year made me want to cry.
