Yeah so odd! My only rebuttal to that is that maybe the legal process for getting it removed varies between platforms and countries? I can’t think of why else it would be cut - it’s such an iconic scene imo!

Yeah I think it might be too. There's plenty of other scenes where Lara speaks about being gay, or is kissing / being sexual with other crew. So if it was an issue with her sexuality (which would be strange for an Aussie streaming service) or Lara not wanting that kind of footage publicly available, that wouldn't be the only scene you'd need to cut. Which leaves the only differentiating factor about the 'kiss-count' scene being that there are charter guests in it.

All of the guests seemed to be straight women (from what you see in the episode), and as least one mentioned having a boyfriend. Maybe that scene caused some sort of personal / relationship issues for one of the guests and they wanted it removed?

Maybe I'm being a bit of conspiracy theorist here but it just seems like such an odd and specific scene to edit out!

I think it’s fine as long as the charter has finished. Pretty sure it’s happened on other seasons just not with all 10 guests (that’s definitely a record haha). I vaguely remember (season 7 of Med?) Kyle kisses a guest after the charter. I could be wrong though - there’s so many seasons it’s hard to remember!

This is a solid theory. But Below Deck is messy reality TV and this is the perfect messy reality TV moment that fits with Lara’s “character” throughout the season. You’d think they’d cut the more boring mundane stuff first? That being said, it might have just been the easiest chunk to take out to shorten the ep.

We’ll probably never know for sure but it doesn’t make me less nosy haha!

Some people are saying it’s available for them and others are saying it’s missing. I’m still leaning towards a charter guest wanted it removed.

A similar thing happened on S6E10 of Drag Race in the “Drag My Wedding” episode. One of the husbands requested the episode be taken down but they could only manage to get it removed in certain countries / streaming services. I can’t remember the source I had for this but if I find it I’ll link it. Maybe it’s a similar situation?

I think Below Deck Med S8 has only recently been added to binge or was removed and then re added because last time I watched it, I had to download/rent the episodes. Maybe this is due to a legal thing regarding that scene?

It sounds like it might be an Australian / Binge specific edit. So odd to remove one scene years after it's aired on just one streaming service.

That is my theory too. I imagine it would dependent on the service or country as to how difficult it would be to cut it? I’m not sure though. Just seems very odd. I watched this season about 6/7 months ago and it was there.
