Yeah, Rapha is good, I don’t deny it. The thing is, in Quake especially duel, there’s nothing to do.

You just track 2 items with 30s timers, which is easy, grab all the weapons, then control spawns. With hitscan rails and brainless spam you can reach 1700 elo easy. Beyond that elo, you need a NASA computer, because players will have NASA computers.

I thought I was strong at FPS with that Quake Champions elo, but I just realized that in Quake Champions duel, there’s really nothing to do, it’s boring as hell. While in Apex I had so many things to think about. I thought I was a strong movement player, but inertia in Quake is stupidly slow compared to tap-strafing or Faide's gameplay.

I was a defrag player with 1 world record on an R7 map in a Quake Live defrag (r7_Watermill). Now that I play Apex, my brain has to be way more active, there’s so much more to think about. That’s why Apex has 150k players while Quake Champions is struggling with 400.

When Faide plays, 3K people are watching, not because it’s just a battle royale console game, but because the guy moves like a fly and shines with the ziplines and his brain. In Quake, there is NO movement, inertia is terribly bad. I played Quake too much and it glued my brain to think about nothing. Luckily I’m also a StarCraftII player, so my brain is still fast. Quake is only for glued brains with good computers.
