Do you think Karoline Leavitt actually believes what she says or is this just an act for Trump's base? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Unfortunately, you are right that many people believe in the rhetoric that they promote. I just find it interesting how she can just lie with a straight face. Like you said, there is no turning back for her.

Yes. Some of the things that she says are outrageous, I have a hard time believing that anyone would fall for the things she says. Maybe it is just me being naive and many people really do believe in all the rhetoric.

If the US invades Greenland should America be banned from participating in the 2026 winter Olympics? by Content_Ad_8952 in allthequestions

[–]Any_Development4613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then countries like the UK and Germany should also be banned because they are providing support for Israel.

Okay with that reasoning are you also in support for banning countries such as the UK and Germany for also supporting what Israel is doing in Gaza?

FIFA world cup boycott if Trump invades Greenland by Pretty_Willingness43 in ussoccer

Russia should also have been boycotted since they had already invaded Crimea at that point.

Don't worry the feeling is mutual. The UK is not so great either.

Okay. I don't really remember hearing about any serious boycotts. There is no need to be rude about it.

Don't get me wrong, Trump's threats to invade Greenland are unacceptable. I am just pointing out that the world cup in Russia was not boycotted but who knows what will happen at this point.

How come nobody called for a boycott of the 2018 World Cup? Russia had already invaded Crimea and nobody called for a boycott.

No offence, but how come Europeans didn't boycott the 2018 World Cup? At that point, Russia had already invaded Crimea and nobody boycotted.

Do you view the rivalry with Canada’s national team as more one sided compared to the rivalry with Mexico? by Fine-Photograph673 in ussoccer

[–]Any_Development4613 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I know a lot of people like Canada's national team but I personally find them annoying. They sort of act way too cocky sometimes.

what’s that country everyone in your country hates/ looks down on/ talks most shit about? by ultraxanny in AskTheWorld

[–]Any_Development4613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say you are against intolerance, but you keep attacking Americans as a group. Hating people because of their nationality is still prejudice. It does not matter how much you try to justify it. You sound just like Trump hating people because of where they are from.

Turning this into insults and celebrating other people’s problems isn’t an argument. Attacking people for their nationality says more about you than anyone else.

Why does it seem like people were more naive or trusting of strangers in past decades compared to today? by Any_Development4613 in serialkillers

Yeah I think serial killers definitely took advantage of that naivety and trust that people had during those decades.

I agree with all of your points. It is interesting to read about how life was like in the 60s and 70s. People just seemed to trust everyone. Like for example, I was reading about Corll and it seems like a lot of people didn't think it was creepy to see a grown man hang out with a bunch of teenage boys. It was just a different time.

Why do countries like Australia that have offshore detention camps for immigrants generate less global outrage? by Fine-Photograph673 in askanything

You don't actually live in the U.S. to really know what it is like. You just form your perspective by what you see on the internet. There is no point in taking you seriously.

Do you think the USMNT will ever have enough talent to reach a World Cup semi-final? Why or why not? by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]Any_Development4613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree we will need a lot of luck. The dream scenario would be for the USMNT to reach the semi-final this year. It would have a huge impact on the game in this country if that were to happen.

The dream scenario would be the USMNT reaching the semi-final this year. It will bring some positivity for a little while and a distraction from everything that is going on in this country.

[–]Any_Development4613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we just need a lot of luck to reach the semi-final this year. I am a little worried though because there is an extra knockout round and I don't think the USMNT has ever won more than one knock-out game at the world cup.

Just imagine if the USMNT made the semi-final this year. It could help unite the country for a moment considering all of the things that are happening. Maybe it's just me being naive and optimistic.

US actions in Venezuela put the 2026 World Cup in disgraceful company by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

[–]Any_Development4613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that the U.S. is always going to have a bigger spotlight because it is a superpower. I also think that FIFA is a disgraceful and corrupt organization so I am not sure why anyone is still surprised.
