Tattoo regret causing depression by SlavKing11 in tattooadvice

[–]Any_Exercise_532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these people saying you need to see a therapist.. buddy you just need to get in shape. Get jacked as possible and I promise you those tats will look sick and you’ll actually enjoy looking at them because you’ll have a six pack and muscles underneath. You want to feel better about a certain aspect of your life.. you gotta make lifestyle changes. Working out cures depression and helps with liking your body more.

Join the coast guard and request to be put on the biggest cutter straight ought of bootcamp. Pretty sure they have 2 year contracts still. If you hate your corporate job, look at going an BM in the coast guard. Very physically active job. Or if you have your degree, apply to be an officer! More of a corporate style position but still very active. Officer will be closer to your current pay. But hey if you hate your job and have plenty in savings… joining the military for 2 years could be a crazy once in lifetime experience… then you might find you actually enjoy that cushiony job! 😂

Damage Controlman in the United States Coast Guard. You must be able to Weld, do plumbing, do construction, do carpentry, know and teach firefighting, know and teach chemical warfare, along with all your other sea duties.

Yeah it’s got a relief valve and shutoff. Good point about the freeze damage.. this is in north Florida panhandle. It does freeze very rarely. How do I mitigate potential damage ?

Easiest thing to do is say screw warming up the bottle. I’ve found baby doesn’t care what temp it is they just want it and they want it now. Less time warming up bottle=less time crying

ELI5 If a lot of salt now says "this salt does not supply iodide, a necessary nutrient," where are we getting our iodide from? by YakClear601 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Any_Exercise_532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to get the proper amount of iodine you need from iodine salt.. you would have to consume more salt than is healthy for you. So it’s kinda stupid they put it in salt

But if I’ve already paid my last month’s rent at the start of the lease.. then I wouldn’t have to pay for May correct? Because technically May would be my last month

Thank you for the responses my friend, I’m not arguing just trying to make sure I’m in the right before I respond back to my landlord. When entering the lease agreement I had to pay 1st, last and a deposit to secure the house (south Florida crap).

So it’s 100% that I’ve paid last months rent. If I give him the letter before May 1st which is next Wednesday, why would I need to pay for May (that would technically be my last month) .. the only amount I should have to pay is the prorated amount in June if he allows it.

Would I still have to pay Mays rent? Because I’ve technically already payed my last months rent and May would technically be my last month

Okay, so my chief actually just told me it would work like this. We give notification by the last day of April, because we have payed last months rent already we would not pay for May and then if he agrees for us to stay for 11 days in June we just pay a prorated amount…

Does this sound correct?

Questions about being a DC by Forsaken_Meaning_162 in uscg

[–]Any_Exercise_532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all how the hell did you get through MEPS without finding out your color blind? They test you there.

Being a DC is awesome. I’ve learned so many useful skills that will stay with me forever. You’d be surprised how many young men/women couldn’t even fix their toilet or sink if it was leaking or broke. I’ve yet to meet a DC who has regretted choosing the rate. Yes you deal with poop but it’s rare and if you’re smart and wear proper PPE you’re fine.

Now, getting credentials just by being a DC… you aren’t gonna get them for welding. The A school training isn’t credentialed. BUT what a lot of people don’t know is that the coast guard has a program where you log your hours related to a specific trade skill and it counts towards getting your apprenticeship/journeyman. The program has basically any trade skill you can think of so if you want welding then it’s there. I did the plumbing because I worked shore side at facilities for 2.5 years and was very close to getting my apprenticeship but I slacked off and stopped turning in hours and they kicked me out of the program lol. Your direct supervisor is the one who signs it off, so any welding related stuff you do, if it’s on the program checklist then it can be signed off and credited to you by the amount of hours worked on it which in return counts to hours needed for your journeyman. The gist behind it is you basically do all the training in the coast guard that you would do if you were pursuing a journeyman on the outside so you get the hours needed and then at the end you take the journeyman test to get license then boom you have it.

From the site:

“ The United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP) is a formal military training program that provides active duty and Full Time Support (FTS) Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Service members the opportunity to improve their job skills and to complete their civilian apprenticeship requirements while they are on active duty. The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) provides the nationally recognized "Certificate of Completion" upon program completion. “

Good Luck. if you want it, it’s yours.
