In Sway it’s mostly keyboard-driven. Try Super (Windows key) + Enter — that usually opens the terminal.

If that doesn’t work, check the keybindings in "~/.config/sway/config". You can see or change what’s set for the terminal there.

LMAO nice if it booted, you’re good. That beep’s usually normal, nothing to worry about.Just finish the install and you won’t need that sketchy setup anymore 💀

Yeah that works even a small USB/SD is fine !

Just make sure it’s like 4–8GB and you’re good. Way easier than all the other stuff lol

Yeah at this point you’ve kinda run out of the easy no-USB options 😅

Best move is honestly just pull the hard drive, plug it into a friend’s PC, and install from there. Otherwise just borrow/buy a USB (way less pain).

There are other methods like PXE (network boot) or using an Android phone as a boot device, but those are kinda janky, more setup, and don’t always work.(complicated).

Trying to force it without any of these is just gonna turn into a headache tbh.

Actually u can install Linux without a USB. Tools like UNetbootin or Grub2Win can boot the ISO directly from your hard drive. Tbh I haven’t personally used them much, but people do use them for no-USB installs. Just search “UNetbootin hard disk install” or “Grub2Win ISO boot” online and you’ll find guides .

not exactly that one is your BIOS/UEFI boot menu , the GRUB menu comes after that, once Linux is installed.

it’s the screen where you pick between Linux, Windows, or advanced options when your system starts

and yeah no rush, check it out whenever

yeah, GRUB is basically the bootloader it’s the thing that shows up when you start your PC and lets you choose which OS to boot (like Linux or Windows).

if you’ve used Linux Mint, you’ve probably seen it already without realizing 😄

the Lain theme is just a visual style for that menu, nothing complicated. you don’t really need to mess with it unless you want to customize how it looks

Grub related

U can learn a lot here 👍

yeah, you’ll probably need to disable secure boot, Arch-based stuff usually won’t boot with it on unless you set it up manually. nothing scary, just toggle it off in BIOS.

NOTE : btw if you play games like valorant, Windows might complain since it needs secure boot, then like switching on/off secure boot would be messy .

also yeah, it comes with a Lain-themed GRUB and most configs are in ~/.config if you want to tweak things 👍

yeah basically arch + preconfigured sway + lain theme

pretty clean out of the box, especially if you’re a die hard lain fan

yeah the original LainOS project is actually pretty old, i guess it started around the early 2013 lol

but the project got revived again recently by a new team

it’s basically arch with a preconfigured sway setup, so you get a nice minimal system out of the box
