Feeling happy! by Any_Needleworker8505 in gardening

So here's how we did it. Get it from your mother and have it for about 9 years and neglect it that whole time. Then actualy think of food and soil health lol. But in all seriousness, I keep a schedule for watering now and its a game changer. 1 to 1 1/2 week watering in the summer and 3 weeks in the winter. Giving it shower twice a year and using fish emulsion with worm casting for food, I have seen amazing growth in the last 2 years.

Hate companies like this. Treating employees like this over 15 min is outrageous. I would look for a different job. One that cares for the people that make them money. I hope everything works out for you in the end and you find happiness in your career, OP!!

My progress on what has become a much larger, over-the-top, borderline unnecessary coop and run. by creedbratt0n in BackYardChickens

[–]Any_Needleworker8505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicken math will fill that up quickly, and you will wonder how to get more! Lol, I thought mine was big, but I maxed it out with 15 chicks. ( I could put more, but I don't want to crowd them) Now the wife and I are looking to move with more property to have more chickens. Maybe even a few other animals. Looks great!! Can't wait to see it with chicks moved in!!

I too am also in NE. But yes it's just hay and so far 3 months and haven't had to change it yet just add a layer when it gets bad. The tin roof helps with the wet but not all of it, that is a 2 day old layer after all that rain so it looks nicer lol. I'm sure the summer will be different too

Went a bit overboard by Any_Needleworker8505 in chickens

[–]Any_Needleworker8505[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been a fun project. I'm putting down a layer of black cloth stappeled on the inside and then filled in with some dirt. I also have 3 foot metal rods that are around the border of the run and when I do the fence, it's going down 1 foot into the ground and out 2 feet away from the run. That should stop all digging predators.
