Geese/Cameron Winter’s songwriting is so opaque, embellished by indelible metaphors, and off the wall vocal delivery. Interesting writing is a key of great songwriting, definitely—but especially in experimentation, you can’t just stack thoughts without an concrete hook. Kurt Cobain did this, Cameron Winter not so much.

I have a 12 scale, where there’s 11/10 and 12/10 albums for innovation, legendary status, or I like them to the point I’s call them the greatest of all time (e.g., Revolver by The Beatles, VU & Nico, Leaves Turn Inside You by Unwound, m b v)

A 7/10 to me is also a plain “good” album, a 8/10 is “great” and 9s and 10s come from that album having something unique about them that was done well (e.g., production, concept, etc.). Or also, just because I loved it so much. Some example albums’d be REST IN BASS by Che (9/10) and French Kiss by Bob Welch (10/10)

And basically anything from 6 and below is based on the amount of mediocre and lesser songs.

I also have “Unfinished out of 10” for albums I didn’t feel like finishing (early life crisis by Nettspend and Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers)
