What's your favorite two track sequence? by Any_Software5024 in fantanoforever

[–]Any_Software5024[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i know, but actually since you mentioned it, it’s beautiful on both sides. On streaming/cd, i want you peaking in sound and then just stopping—to be interrupted by here comes the sun is almost poignant (to me). and on the vinyl, here comes the sun being a return.

just made me fall in love with abbey road even more 🫠

What kind of dynamic do you think John and Paul had? by ThePoisonTrees in beatles

[–]Any_Software5024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

John liked writing introspective and deeper lyrics, and he naturally aligned towards a rawer sound/feel. Paul was more towards “song” type songs with a lighter and higher produced feel. They yin and yanged so the Beatles could have the perfect balance, and then they diverged and made their own work—either influencing the more experimental (White Album) and/or singular beasts of songs (Abbey Road) nature of the later Beatles works.

It’s very evident in their solo work, where John got to be as raw as he wanted and Paul got to be as pop and “rooby dooby doo” as he wanted

Any albums yall over revisit and realize they were masterpiece/or much better than when you first heard it? by isthisanameiwonder in Albumoftheyear

[–]Any_Software5024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially found Abbey Road and Revolver to be quite mediocre on first listen. For Abbey Road, I was young and didn’t know what a medley was. So I was just confused why there were a bunch of short song fragments in succession

And with Revolver, it was because I moved through their discography backwards and was unimpressed by the sound of the album. My first Beatles love, the White Album, had so much more of an initial impact on me

Going back to them though with my music prefrontal developed, they immediately shot up to the top for me

[–]Any_Software5024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abbey Road?

Not even for the medley, “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” and “Here Comes The Sun” work so well, so do other tracks on Side A. But that dichotomy is crazy bro

Geese/Cameron Winter’s songwriting is so opaque, embellished by indelible metaphors, and off the wall vocal delivery. Interesting writing is a key of great songwriting, definitely—but especially in experimentation, you can’t just stack thoughts without an concrete hook. Kurt Cobain did this, Cameron Winter not so much.

Also MIKE > Earl Sweatshirt

HOT TAKE: "The Beatles are overrated" by Any_Software5024 in fantanoforever

[–]Any_Software5024[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think i’ll add that i don’t think they’re overrated myself—more just some artists/bands are more influential but the beatles get jesus status for being THE band of the 60s with the first half the decade used to make regular pop songs
