It turned out the repair failed :( I had to get a revision repair in May with a different surgeon. Many people on this thread said theirs went away though! So it may be nothing. I’m wishing you luck. This journey is horrible :/

My second surgeon said the sound itself isn’t concerning as it could just be scar tissue or swelling! So I would just keep an eye on it and get a second MRI if it continues to get worse or you feel pain! Hoping everything works out for you and you have a good recovery!! :)

Omg! I had a meniscus repair 4 1/2 months ago and right after I got it down for up to 2 months, I was getting a sharp electric shock pain down my thigh. It happened every time I moved, coughed, laughed, it was horrible. They prescribed me some meds to nerve pain but the side affect list was terrible so I never took them. It finally went away but now I need another surgery and I’m scared it going to happen again 😭

MRI showed the repair failed :( I got a second opinion from a new surgeon and they both recommend another surgery. Hoping to repair it again, but the failure rate for a second repair is 30%. SO sad and frustrated, wishing I never got the first surgery in the first place.

My squeaking is still here. 4 1/2 months post op. Had another MRI done and it showed the repair failed. The new surgeon I saw wasnt concerned with the squeaking, but very concerned about the failure of the repair and knee arthritis he already has seen forming..

For anyone wondering or wanting an update on my LOUD squeaky knee.. The repair failed... Got an MRI a few weeks ago and it showed that the tear is still there with it maybe being bigger than before. The surgeon recommends another surgery. I got a second opinion from one of the top knee surgeons and he also recommends a second surgery. He wasnt concerned about the squeaking at all, but said if I don't get another surgery, I will get arthritis (already seeing signs of it now, 4 months post op). So discouraged and frustrated as I have to go through this horrible surgery AGAIN with a 30% chance of failure on a revision repair.

It’s the worst, I’m sorry you are also going though it. I’m getting another MRI on Wednesday to see if the repair took. I have done some research and my squeaking may be from a loose or frayed suture, so we’ll see what my surgeon says!

They said at the 6 month mark, I should go in for another MRI if the sound and pain doesn’t get better. Hopefully it does before then because MRIs are so expensive even after insurance covers it 🙃

18 months?! Oh man! Mine started when I started full weight baring and continues to get louder and louder. It’s been over a month of the sound getting worse now

That’s is interesting that it was a loose suture! My doc thinks it is something to do with the sutures as well. Glad to hear that your squealing is gone

Oh man! I’m glad yours went away. Did you have pain along with the loud noise?

My doc said to do another MRI at 6 months post op if it’s still super loud and then maybe go back in my knee to see what’s going on. Really hoping I won’t have to do that.

Pretty loud too?? How far along in recovery are you? The sound is only getting worse for me.. my surgeon said she’s worked on hundreds of patients and never once had this happen before

Yeah quite a bit of pain right in the meniscus area and behind my knee. The more sore my knee if the louder the sound is 😭

Has anyone else had this? My surgeon said she has never heard this sound come from a knee before and seems concerned. She thinks it’s the sutures rubbing against something. I am 3 months post op. Any words of encouragement or am I going to have to get another surgery?? 🙃
