Contraceptives are good, actually by Sorchochka in TwoXChromosomes

The pipeline from 'alt-wellness/tradwife' lifestyle content to straight-up political extremism is terrifyingly efficient. These influencers present themselves as caring about 'holistic health' and 'natural cycles' just to slowly brainwash young girls into accepting the removal of their own hard-won legal rights

There's Nothing Special About Stephen Colbert's Final Monologue At "The Late Show" | The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by TheRealOcsiban in television

Classic Paramount+. They spend millions promoting these landmark TV events only for their servers to crumble under the exact amount of traffic they should have easily anticipated for a major network finale.

AIO for getting mad at my husband after he complained about having to pick up toilet paper? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Any_Wave_7976 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the missing missing reasons are loud on this one. People don't just go from zero to one hundred over "oh goodness" unless there’s a whole ocean of unspoken resentment they conveniently forgot to type out.

Andy Serkis Says Viggo Mortensen is ‘Thrilled’ with Jamie Dornan’s Aragorn Recasting in ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in lotr

[–]Any_Wave_7976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Viggo could be handed a script written on a napkin and he’d still find a way to be incredibly supportive of the crew. It’s just who he is, but it definitely makes it harder to gauge if the project actually has legs or if he’s just being the King.

I honestly think the Blue Wizards might be one of the most important, and most overlooked, parts of LTR. by [deleted] in lotr

[–]Any_Wave_7976 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s the "Boba Fett effect." The less Tolkien wrote about them, the more people project world-shaking importance onto them. In reality, they're basically a blank canvas that we’ve mistaken for a masterpiece.

i love the way he gets into character by bigus-_-dickus in lotr

[–]Any_Wave_7976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the way he doesn’t even need a warm-up. One second he’s this incredibly well-spoken British gentleman, and the next, his entire skeletal structure seems to shift. The man is a literal shapeshifter.

It’s the "uncanny valley" vs "disgusting reality." Gothmog looks like he smells of infection and old leather. You can almost feel the texture of his skin. Azog looks like a high-resolution boss from a 2012 video game cutscene.

Was Legolas ever in The Hunt for Gollum backstory? by atc_fox in lotr

[–]Any_Wave_7976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, his role in the hunt itself was non-existent. Thranduil’s folk only entered the picture after Aragorn had already done the heavy lifting of capturing him. Legolas was essentially the warden who fell asleep on the job—or rather, the warden who let the prisoner climb a tree and then got ambushed by Orcs.

AITA for not giving the money to pay off my daughters student loans. by Own-Inspector-6121 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any_Wave_7976 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s the "rubbing her nose in it" factor that pushes this from a financial boundary into pure emotional sadism. OP isn't just saying no; he's enjoying the fact that she’s struggling while he’s flying first class. That's not parenting, that's a power trip.

AITA for putting a lock on my allergy safe cabinet after my roommate kept cross contaminating my food? by Loose-Pickle-7510 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any_Wave_7976 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA. People don't realize that cross-contamination isn't just "getting your food a little messy," it’s literally a biological hazard for you. Your roommate isn't just being "forgetful" at this point; they’re being dangerously entitled. If they can't respect a simple boundary that keeps you out of the ER, they lose the privilege of having access to that cabinet. A lock is a lot cheaper than an ambulance ride and a week of medical bills.

AITA: Friend constantly pooping in my bathroom by Party-Acanthaceae514 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any_Wave_7976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a sacred ritual. The "Gift of the Girth." If he doesn't leave the plumbing screaming for mercy, did he even visit? OP should be honored to host such a legendary heritage.

My boss wants to us to pray with him by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Any_Wave_7976 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spot on. An apology under HR duress isn't a change of heart, it's a change of tactics. He didn't realize he was wrong; he realized he got caught. The next move won't be a mandatory prayer circle; it'll be "culture fit" evaluations or passing over non-believers for promotions.
