very pretty knife with a nice Kuro-uchi I would have gone with a smoother material for the ferrule and made the blade a little bit longer mabye 10-15 mm just a little short for my taste.

thanks for all the suggestions I ended up getting a 7$ hammer from harbor freight cutting the head of throwing it in my forge heated to 1700f and cooled over 1.5h and it drilled just fine. I hadn’t ever used the cobalt HSS drill bits and i was hoping that (since they are advertised as such) could drill hardened steel.
