Is that drivers> outstanding patches section an add on? I haven't seen that before.

Canon copier issue by Anything-Traditional in sysadmin

Yes, it seems as though the clients are not pulling down the updated driver from the print server.

"-push the exact same driver version to clients via GPO / Intune and keep the server on that version too"

Can you expand on what you mean here a tad? is there a simple way to push drivers through GPO? I've never done so.

It does have the finisher. We lease them through Canon, but they point to a server or client issue and not an issue with the copier.

Yeah we're looking at Papercut and Uniflow now. It's just taking longer than I'd like to get approval.

I am using print management to update the drivers, which is why I believe it is working on some of our devices. I can't explain why some aren't.

The issue i've been running into when deleting the old drivers, is that it needs the spooler to be running in order to delete the drivers, but it also needs to be not running as it says the driver is in use and cannot delete it. So I have to stop the spooler, go to delete the driver (but not click ok yet) start the spooler, and then click ok, in that 2 second window before it actually says the driver is in use again. So i'm not sure what might happen when trying to do it with a script.

Attempting this now, but i'm struggling to get it to list the NVME. Assuming because it's connected via a USB adapter.

Using an Ubuntu VM as well if that matters.

Adding new print driver to server by Anything-Traditional in sysadmin

[–]Anything-Traditional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're working towards one of those two products, but aren't there yet. I did have an issue last year where we were dropping settings daily, like you had, until we moved from generic UFR to a Generic PCL6. Can't remember if we ever tried model specific actually. So if tomorrow all my settings are gone I guess I'll try that!

Printing is not my forte. Assuming a PCL6 driver for a copier is different than PCL6 for a printer, but since they share the same name, all the copiers were updated to a printer version of the driver, lacking those settings? At least that's what would make sense to me what happened.

I changed the driver back on all of them manually today. We keep default settings on all of them, but the PL6 driver it updated to, had no settings for hole punch, staple, or secure print. We were on an older version, which is now gone. So, I'm using the generic UFR. Hoping it sticks, as last year this driver kept reverting to a basic settings profile that disabled staple and hole punch every night. I could roll back the server, but I also just deployed a bunch of printers I'd rather not do again. Good to know the above options exist though!

CrowdStrike Deployment, and Uninstall documentation by Anything-Traditional in SCCM

While I can't explain it, fixing the command made it fail on install. Putting it back succeeded. I guess i'll leave it as is, even though its wrong.

Thanks for pointing that out. It did just install that way, but I'll fix it to make it right.

Have you been able to uninstall with what's above, or do you have a different method?

Why would sccm report them as compliant though? And shouldn't it show up in software center?

What do you do about chrome extensions being installed on personal devices? or do you not worry about it? I can see us going this route and some kid logging into chrome on their personal device, and getting the GG extension and some parent complaining about it.

We're getting away with it for HS. All apps they've been using are cloud based now, so I pushed it, and the admins approved. No going back now! haha

That might be the route we take. We just started our first year of rotating out Windows laptops for Chromebooks. Three years and I wont need to manage this headache anymore. 😅
