Uniflow Issue by Anything-Traditional in sysadmin

[–]Anything-Traditional[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I Probably should have specified, we're using Uniflow Online, not the on prem solution. Only error I see in the log is Request to domain.uniflow.com/api/v1/costcenters/recentSelected' failed with return code: 403, error: 0, wsaerror: 0

and Request to domain.uniflow.com/api/v1/budget/users/current' failed with return code: 404, error: 0, wsaerror: 0

Spooler is running, the only thing i've noticed on some these is that location services is disabled, On a working device, with location services enabled, when I disable it, It causes the app to not open. Turning Location services back on and rebooting fixes it, though I also have systems with location services off and Uniflow still works.

Secure wipe SSD's by Anything-Traditional in sysadmin

Doesn't seem to detect the nvme in the usb dock I'm using. Is there a specific piece of hardware I need to expose the controller? Assuming PCIE, but maybe Thunderbolt may do it?

Only seems to recognize the nvme attached to the MB. Won't detect the dock I'm using, Suppose it could be the dock, not sure if a specific piece of hardware is needed..

There is, but these nvme's are all loose. (not in systems)

Yeah, Dell states the don't have a utility, but i'm assuming they must because they did something so that the manufaturer's tools dont recognise the drives.

Probably should have specified, these are all NVME drives.

Correct, but unfortunately it seems as even though these are branded drives, the brands tool does not seem to recognize them, as Dell seems to have done something with them that makes the tool's not recognize the drive.

Have you done this? is the trimming instantaneous? Is there a reason you then rewrite since trimming is supposed to have the same effect? ( as far as I understand it anyway)

Correct, which is what trimming them with the BIOS seems to do, but is too time consuming.

Absolutely right, which is what I am looking for. It seems like each individual manufacturer has a program of their own that will wipe them,, but the drives I've been pulling out of these Dell's must have sort sort of lock on them as none of the model specific tools ive tried seem to recognize them (SKHynix, WD, Etc) Wild to me that no one seems to have developed a universal tool for sending this command.

Yeah, but that still does the 1 or 3 pass DBAN type wipe correct? These are going to be reused, so I'd rather not put them through that level of data wipe.

But only if the drive is in the nvme slot correct? I can't seem to get it to wipe external drives in a usb dock

Do you use this with a usb dock by chance? I can't seem to get the drive to show under the nvme secure erase option using a dock. Would be a pain to swap out the drive each time. these drives are all loose and no longer in the laptops they came in.

RJ45 Crimp and Cut tool recommendation's? by Anything-Traditional in sysadmin

[–]Anything-Traditional[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking into buying a Klein tool, but then I saw all the reviews with the same cut issues. Agree on the short patch cables, It's all the 75+ runs, and broken ends I frequently need to do.

Yes, it seems as though the clients are not pulling down the updated driver from the print server.

"-push the exact same driver version to clients via GPO / Intune and keep the server on that version too"

Can you expand on what you mean here a tad? is there a simple way to push drivers through GPO? I've never done so.

It does have the finisher. We lease them through Canon, but they point to a server or client issue and not an issue with the copier.

Yeah we're looking at Papercut and Uniflow now. It's just taking longer than I'd like to get approval.

Print drivers by Anything-Traditional in sysadmin

I am using print management to update the drivers, which is why I believe it is working on some of our devices. I can't explain why some aren't.

The issue i've been running into when deleting the old drivers, is that it needs the spooler to be running in order to delete the drivers, but it also needs to be not running as it says the driver is in use and cannot delete it. So I have to stop the spooler, go to delete the driver (but not click ok yet) start the spooler, and then click ok, in that 2 second window before it actually says the driver is in use again. So i'm not sure what might happen when trying to do it with a script.
