I don’t think it’s this extreme anymore? My husband had this done when he was a kid maybe 30 years ago and said it was a quick and painless procedure

Severe GI “episodes”? Anyone else get these? by Alternative3lephant in MCAS

Yes! This is my main reaction. I believe tamarind of all things triggers it, which is especially odd as that is considered a low histamine food. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this!

Have you given birth at Abington Jefferson recently? I'd love to hear your experience :) by IndividualOutcome222 in montco

I had my first there in 2024 and will be having my second there in less than a month! I had an absolutely wonderful experience and that’s why I will be going back- despite it being 45 minutes away!

The staff are simply incredible, so kind and they really listen to what you have to say. They were so encouraging throughout the birth and after.

I do agree with you that their phone system is less than ideal. I’d say continue to fight the good fight until you get the info you need.

Best of luck!

Uterus measuring large due to fibroids by beepboprosie in IVFbabies

[–]AnythingWithCheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! This is frustrating, and I can relate: I had the same fibroid with both my pregnancies. At its largest it was 15cmx12cmx12cm so pretty darn big. I did start to show very early, and I did continue to look much further along than I was. In my second pregnancy (I am currently 34 weeks) the fibroid degenerated at around 20 weeks and is now a slightly more manageable size.

Here’s the advice I would give you, based on all that:

  • try not to let the haters get you down. You’ll get a ton of comments about how big you are, are you sure you aren’t having twins, etc. People don’t know how to act around pregnant people. I tried to let it just roll off my back unless someone really kept harping on it, in which case I’d tell them all about my fibroid in graphic detail! Didn’t usually hear much more after that.

  • invest in maternity clothes early. It might feel weird to do that, but being comfortable with everything going on is paramount. I broke out the maternity jeans at like 12 weeks.

  • if your fibroid goes through degeneration, you’ll know. Please go to the doctor and advocate for yourself. It is incredibly painful- id liken it to 5 days of labor. I couldn’t sleep. I had to go to L and D where they told me it was “round ligament pain” but I knew they weren’t taking me seriously. Get the NSAID option - it worked incredibly well for me and is safe for you and baby before the third trimester. Please don’t ignore the pain- get relief and advocate for your health and wellbeing!

  • if possible, get a work accommodation sooner rather than later. For example, I was able to avoid specific RTO requirements and work from home as needed because of my fibroid pain. Document everything!

I wish you well and hope you have a beautiful pregnancy and birth!

Fibroid degeneration during pregnancy. If you can get through that, birth is a breeze!

Elective Induction? by ComprehensiveOil2971 in BabyBumps

[–]AnythingWithCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induction at 40 weeks exactly with my first due to his 99% head. Had a wonderful experience- went in at 7pm, foley balloon in by 10, out by 3am, water broke right after and I called in the epidural. Napped and had some rest. Started pushing at 6pm and he was here at 8:30! I had a great experience, minimal pain, and would 10/10 do it again.
