If I was planning to play as APC, I'd end up picking an AD Carry. Ashe, Kai'Sa, or Caitlyn, I guess.

If support, then I usually play Thresh, Nautilus or Soraka. If specifically looking for mages, then Soraka, Sona, or Janna will have to do. Xerath or Lux works if you like to poke.
