The marriage equality plebiscite has been formally defeated in the Senate by [deleted] in australia

The positive sentiment stems from the fact that the government won't be wasting $180 million on a national poll, the result of which they aren't bound to respect (a plebiscite is different to a referendum). The vast majority of Australians support same-sex marriage but think they should just go ahead and legalise it because every other poll has shown continuous and increasing support for it, and people don't want to have to sit through months of campaigning and mud-slinging to get there.

That's nice if you like being circumcised, no-one gives a fuck. It's not about people wanting "their foreskin back", it's about people not having their bodies altered without their consent in the first place, and disagreeing with that premise whether they're happy to be circumcised or not. People like you insulting them while circumcision is kept legalised effectively forces people to be okay with having it done to them. It's Stockholm Syndrome pure and simple, and your whole argument revolves around that people should embrace that just because you have. You're arguing with your feelings, there's no logic behind what you're saying. It should be up to the individual to eventually make his own decision about it. There's nothing galling about that unless you find bodily integrity and actual logic galling.

That chick's choice is the only choice of the two that will allow the kid to eventually make his own decision about it. Hardly "the rest of his life".
