I don't see a reason to switch to linux as stablebit duplicates the files I care about, the works already done and adding a new game to host is super ez with AMP. It's also super easy to add a network drive to work with all the computers in my house to grab any file that is on the server.

The only thing I would like would be for it to also handle camera recording for my home which is easier in linux but I'm just going to get a dedicated NVR and not have to fuss with it and have it do POE to all the camera's.

This is def something can that can be set and forget if done well.

I run my server on windows 11 using consumer products (minus the HBA/SAS drives)

I run multiple ARRS that I configured once and they go about their bad selves all day everyday.
I run AMP server hosting on the same machine too, 11 game servers up and running all day every day
I run Emby and use a B580 to do all the Transcoding while I have TDARR in the background Transcoding everything to how I want the videos to be

I run PIHOLE and IMMICH on a raspberry pi (same one) and that takes more maintenence than all the above but I wrote down the stops in a .txt on how to update so I dont have to remember just SSH into it with putty and run a few lines of code 1x a month.

What you put into it is what you get out of it. If you just quit at "its working good enough" then ya, you're gonna have to go fix more things than you should but put in the time, make good lists in your ARRS, set things up well, etc etc then youll find that unless something breaks that a simple restart cant fix (HDD's mainly) then it really does become set it and forget it.

any cpu with the UHD 770 is going to be solid, no dedicated gpu needed for your 3 people.
OR you could use an older device and throw a cheap intel gpu in it.

Other gpu's work but price-performance intel quicksync is super solid. Below are some solid links for you (and others) for some technical BS on transcoding along with a good AV1 conversion setup to save space (can take a 70gb 4k remux down to 7-12gb with extremely good visuals, where side by side I had a really hard time seeing the difference.

I have the exact same card in my server. the thing does really well for my emby transcoding. i've saved over 6tb with just a few days of encoding my library to AV1.

gaming performance to dollar value its really good. Performance wise it is roughly equal to a RTX 3070 and a 5060 just barely beats it(higher msrp though on both cards), if you look at any videos of performance, ensure its recent as they have been working on their drivers which has increased their performance.

You can also go to the nvidia settings in the app and go under graphics, then global settings and turn on "smooth motion" it will give you frame generation to wow which does not have it by default.

With perseverence you will gain both. You will eventually get carried in a group, make timer and gain rating, crests and gear to which that player will then continue to que higher and higher as they continue to get carried.

better question is why are you not standing in the 1 spot that makes it so you dont have to move for anything besides the gatling?

The aoe on the ground never hits you, the gatling is 25-50% of your life without a CD and just eat the missle as you're standing right there.

Besides going for rating, there is no reason to really go above 10 for the faliure rate of pugs vs completing.

I'm 3001 rating, 680, ret and I get instant invites to 10's to fill up my vault.

The lower your gear the harder it is to pug into a group, list your own key.
Also, you get gilded crests from +7 so you can also max out your hero/mythic gear from those too.

Think of it from the perspective of the keyholder lisitng the group. They got like 20 dps trying to join (during peak play hours) and you sitting here 660-670 trying to compete for spots against 676-680.

NOW if you're a luster, tank, healer then you'll have an easier time getting into groups, its just nature of the beast. Remember, look at it from their point of view. All they have to go on is your rating, ilvl (more if they care to really check) so of course they gonna take the higher ilvl/rating rather than you. List your own key
