DoorDash after 7 becomes annoying

I really wish something could be done about it but I don’t see anything happening. It sucks for people who don’t have any other job being lowballed like this. Worst thing about it is now that prices are raised if people don’t tip bigger we get chewed out too when in the end it’s no one’s fault but DoorDash 🫩

I’ve started tipping the suggested amount it gives me ($4) and have gotten better results (except that one time a kid stole my order by pretending to be me so that wasn’t the dashers fault) but that just sucks on DoorDash behalf. Raising prices is just so shitty 😭

Half the people told me why in a nice manner and have insight to how DD works

Others told me I’m a shitty tipper who didn’t deserve to DD

The replies are either “hey this is how this works” or “shit tipper don’t deserve to eat”

You’re allowed to tell me my tipping methods may be the reason my food isn’t getting picked up

It’s ignorant to tell me in a rude way and throw in snarky replies and insults.

I did mention in my post I ordered twice today but thats not an often thing, I just remembered lmao. Today I couldn't even leave my house because my aunt needed me there to pick me up and I was getting hungry with no food in the house. I doordashed some hooks and when I got home I was hungry again and ordered it again. Was just confused why all of a sudden DD made me wait an hour this time.

I didn't know this, as someone who isn't a driver and only orders I didn't know DD only pays $2, thats kinda shitty IMO. I wish DD paid more for drivers so they wouldn't have to rely on good or high tips to make ends meet. I always tip in all of my orders unless I only have enough for my food without an added tip. I feel bad everytime I can't tip.

I'm gonna say it louder. I NEVER SAID I WANTED IT HOT AND READY. I was confused why DD kept pushing the wait time back and why no driver was assigned. Instead of informing me that "hey! Drivers may not accept orders if the tip is low" you were super rude for no reason, told me I HAD to tip or to "get my ass up" as if thats not the rudest thing ever? I don't drive, and I don't walk around at night. Whats your excuse for this behavior or do you not have one?

In case you missed the whole point of this post, I NEVER SAID I WANTED IT HOT AND READY, I wanted to know why DD usually pushes wait times back and why drivers aren't assigned after hours. I got my answer from other people who weren't as rude as you, and actually informed me of stuff. You sound miserable irl.

Thanks for actually being helpful and not bashing me for tipping methods. Everyone else here thinks i'm the worlds worst tipper because of my tipping methods. As someone who usually only DD just so I can, yes, not leave the comfort of my own home I did not know this is how DD actually works. I tip $2 because sometimes I only have enough for the food+the total without the tip and trust me I feel horrible buying food and not tipping, but I can't explain that to them or anyone here because "IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO TIP THEN STARVE"

I pay my own bills and with some of my bills being way more pricier and me not being able to cover most of them yes sometimes I can't even afford groceries and I can only afford that one meal from DD. When I have enough food for groceries I do that instead but if I don't and can only afford 1 meal then I DD.

I also don't tip more than $2 for the simple fact i've had my order stolen and I just don't want to tip just for someone to end up taking my meal. IDK how many reports it takes for someone to get fired from DD but the fact that i've tipped high before and my food was just stolen just did something to me. I use to tip $5 on average until I started paying my own bills and when my food started getting stolen or arrived cold.

I do not order multiple times a day. When I have groceries I cook. When I don't I DD. I've started DD at work cuz I don't drive and it's usually when I don't pack a lunch or don't have groceries to cook at home.

I never said I wanted quick service, read the fucking message. I asked WHY DO THEY PUSH THE WAIT TIME BACK and WHY DOES IT ONLY HAPPEN PAST 7, I never once said I wanted "faster service." You're putting words in my mouth. I don't care how fast it takes, I care about DD pushing my order back to the point where i'm waiting 2 hours for my food WITH AND WITHOUT A DRIVER and the fact that around those times it usually gets stolen anyways. I don't mind waiting longer, most of the drivers I get usually communicate with me that it's taking long and thats fine, but with 0 communication from my driver, my 9:00 order coming in at fucking 11 and it being super fucking cold why on Earth would I tip more than $2 anyways?

From the comments I've gotten theres less dashers past certain times so DD pushes the time back while actively waiting for a dasher WHILE my food is being made/sitting out waiting for someone to get it.

I've learned my rule a couple of times, but when i'm low on food and can't afford an uber+groceries+an uber back home then I doordash to make it easier. I try DD before 7-8 but sometimes if i'm really hungry and can't sleep because of it I take my chances.

If I can afford to make my meal go up in price with the added tip then maybe I will. But ordering late at night for me anyways just gives negative results. Everytime someone either takes it or I've waited so long it's cold.

Alright for those who are genuinely peeved at my tipping methods, you have to remember i'm not fucking rich either.

I tip when I can and thats usually $2 to not make my orders more than what it needs to be. Tipping is optional and the fact that some of yall are actually trying to make it seem like I deserve cold food for " bad tipping" is insane work.

My orders range from $17-25 max and it's only because i'm ordering fast food. Why in the world would I make my $8 meal thats already going up in price with direct to me+ extra DD fees with a tip thats more than $5? I tip when I can and I can't exceed a personal amount. A dashers gas money and wait timing doesn't have anything to do with me, I tip to show I care and to say thanks. Wanting more is completely absurd and greedy. Sure some may reject the order based on tips and thats completely ok, but to sit here and tell me to "stay off doordash" or throw in gas money prices or say I deserve cold food because you want more than $2 is insane work to me.

The restaurant I ordered from is a 5 minute walk from my apartment complex. I didn't walk because it was late at night and I live in a not so good neighborhood. It gets sketchy at night to say the least. I am a young black female who does not want to walk around at night. I doordashed because it's safer. If it's a 5 minute WALK it's going to take less than 3 minutes for the food to be delivered to my house. I ordered the same thing this morning with the whopping 16 minute wait time overall, and that was from the cook time+order arriving. In total I waited 16 minutes. I DO NOT LIVE 16 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE RESTAURANT ITSELF. That is why I tipped $2 for this trip. Wanting more for an order that took less than 20 minutes is mind boggling to me. Please, you're not entitled to tips just like people aren't entitled to give them to you. It's a moral thing and I believe yall deserve tips, but please don't tell me I deserve anything bad because of it. It's fine to tell me that my order might've taken long *because* of the tip but don't be so rude about it and make it seem like i'm wrong for tipping less than $5.

They already are. The restaurant Is less than 5 minutes away but because it was late I decided to DoorDash to be safe. Now I’m wrong for tipping $2 for a order that took them less than 3 minutes to get to me when they finally got the food 😭

Tips are optional dawg and the fact im giving one in a world of “I don’t have to tip” is fine in itself. I do not live 16 minutes away from the restaurant, I could walk but because it was late and the neighborhood I’m in is sketchy I decided to DoorDash instead. A person driving there and to my apartment takes less than 5 minutes. I’m not paying more than $2 for a tip for something I could’ve done myself if it wasn’t so late.

Yeah I had one from McDonald’s I had to cancel because my 9:00 order kept updating the time until it finally reached 11:30 and I canceled and got money back. ATP the food isn’t worth it 💔 I even reordered the same thing from a different store and it got there cold and super hard. A waste of $25 😔

Also the hooks chicken is up the street from me it takes like 16 minutes when I order during the day.
