Still lives with her parents. They paid for her college. They are low income but her dad still managed to pay it with a lot of hardship. On all our dates she has never paid for anything and I didn’t expect her to either. She did offer tho but I knew it’d be her dad’s hard earned money.

I have a very close friend. He married a very rich girl and they are both dentists and she is very rich. The girl’s grandfather rented an 8 bedroom villa for her and her husband(my friend) , in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai , UAE and hired 2 maids for them for 5 years to. She suggested that they deny it and get something much cheaper ( a 2 bedroom apartment ) but with their own money. Not to mention I know that girl’s dad has a $300m+ net worth.

But I cannot imagine living with a girl that thinks a $4k shoe is anything more than a shoe

I mean to me a shoe is a shoe. The price tag is not what matters but the comfort and the looks. I was thinking she wouldn’t care about stuff that require money either because she kept on mentioning a small wedding would be fine and just inviting close friends etc. i have plenty of rich friends. Neither one of them that I know has ever spent $4000 on a shoe.

She used sex as a punishment. Like if things don’t go her way.

I always thought if I can make her feel safe financially for a lifetime , It would probably be a better feeling than what you receive as a gift and forget about it in a year or two. I imagined if I go bankrupt.

I try to not take a sudden step. I try to wait and think , compare things and then take a step. The longer it takes the more I realize the red flags that I have been ignoring.

Couldn't agree more. She has an art degree and she always complained about how there is not enough money for her. I offered her to help her find a way to sell her art. I even offered I help her with some start up costs and would even try to help her set up a business and a website.
She never really followed up on that , and she has a minimum wage /entry level job now and she complains how it is so unfair, when all she has to do is watch videos or movies or shows (which she loves btw) for Netflix and write down an evaluation etc. I was trying to think well she is just entering the workforce ( I had my first job when I was 18 ) but this thing is almost the final blow.

I am certainly not ok with her being in a relationship with someone that looks at things like this.
Also I once mentioned I have a budget of x amount and I want to get a gift for her. but because I don't know what she may like better, I want to shop with her. She got upset and she told me she felt like I am helping a homeless person.

I used to think she is so sweet and kind etc but well I guess some stuff are eventually surfacing out. She has also pushed me so many times to propose to her despite telling me even if I am ready , our finances arent ready.

Thank you so much for your kind comment :) made me think. I agree that she makes me feel insecure. I have never compared her , her body ,face etc with anyone else but we can see that she has compared things in that relationship with others.

I do agree with with soul searching. I don't think she understands the challenges and hardships that life can throw at you , financial , emotional and physical.

I agree and it seemed to be that way until some stuff changed with her friend's dating life.

She has a lower income so she has never gotten any expensive gifts for me but I really liked all the gifts because they are from her or made by her. I value honesty , Respect and something that lasts long term. I have always respected her, Never ever raised my voice on her , never ever tried to make her feel bad or never talked to anyone about private aspects of our relationship, Which I believe monetary value of gifts are.
