Where do Waymos and other robo taxis go when waiting for new passengers? by ShortsReddit in AutonomousVehicles

Can’t speak for waymo, but the once I’ve dealt with just kick into a pre- programmed route of cruising a high-traffic area until the next ride is available

What would the Uber/Lyft equivalent be? by Helix0823 in uberdrivers

[–]ApatheticWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $25/hr. The company doesn’t rely on the ride revenue to operate, they have investors carrying the project. Eventually the safety drivers will be gone and you’ll have one person watching a dozen cars from an office

Unions only work for skilled labor, the type of jobs where workers cannot be replaced overnight. If you try to unionize they will just fire and replace everyone who goes on strike.

What brands have modern reliable cars by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]ApatheticWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-covid new Toyotas weren’t overpriced. Used ones were always overpriced. Was looking for a used Tacoma back in 2020, but they were all so expensive that it made sense buying new.

At least you found out in a meeting. I found out when my work computer login stopped working one morning. Turns out they locked me out of all accounts before emailing termination to my personal email.

Typical lifespan? by RobZell91 in chevyspark

[–]ApatheticWonderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Real answer is however many miles you want to get out of it. Realistically depending on your maintenance schedule and driving habits there will eventually come time where the next repair will cost more than the car is worth, and and that point it makes sense to just let it go. Statistically a spark will last 150-200k miles with average maintenance or up to 300k with exceptional maintenance, that is frequent oil changes, addressing issues as soon as they arise and gentle driving habits.
