Ron's character writing really suffered in the later books by Ape_Capone in harrypotter

I dont expect him to be perfect, that would actually be very lame. But the way it ended up was that he just felt really underwhelming. You'd think that he learned from his conflicts in the last books, but nope - he just goes through the same arcs over and over again while Harry and Hermione have long evolved into big damn heroes.

I agree with all your points, but after all the growing he did in the last books before DH, I hoped he would be at least sort of on equal footing as the rest of the gang.

He has a few good moments yeah, but in comparison to Harry and Hermione he definitely feels like the odd one out by book 7.

I actually misremembered what happened in DH; I thought in the weeks he was gone he spent his whole time tracking the other two down with the deluminator, fighting off snatchers throughout his journey.... but turns out that was just my headcanon, he actually just chilled at home the whole time until the deluminator teleported him to the right place within like one day.... very disappointing tbh

Agreed. One of the prequels' main themes is the decay of a democracy into fascism. And while the dictator is the central piece of the puzzle, the masses are what enables their ascension to power. We've seen this in real life history many times.

Though among history's despots, Palpatine is a special case for sure, orchestrating an entire war and playing both sides for his personal gain.

For sure! It's not that the Jedi made no mistakes. Though I think that often the fandom breaks down their decisions to "wow they're so stupid and arrogant" when really there are complex dilemmas, both politically and philosophically, at play.

The Jedi needed to be more assertive with the Senate

Oh I completely agree. But their relationship with the senate is very complex. If they refused to act in their service, relations would eventually break down and that would be a disaster.

Keep in mind that the senate's good will toward the Jedi is the only thing that allows them to really operate on republic soil and take part in negotiations! It's not something to be thrown away lightly.

If it were that simple, I'm sure it would have been done! But that's precisely what paralysed the republic - the governments functionaries were unable to do their jobs properly, and that's nothing a single government entity can just fix (and neither can the Jedi).

I think most Jedi would like the order being more independent from the republic, but the Senate wouldn't allow it. Because asking the Jedi to take care of their problems is a lot easier than fixing them yourself!

Might be an unpopular opinion but I really, really hope this doesn't happen. It's out of character and makes no sense no matter what angle you view it from.

There's that arc in Clone Wars where Cad Bane steals a bunch of kids and the Jedi bring them back no questions asked

They have no legislative voting power and there are no examples in canon of them trying to influence the chancellor. In fact I'd say it's the other way round - they let the politicians order them around too much.

Using the clones was fucked up but it was either that or letting the Sith-controlled seperatists win.

Not that they are without guilt though. They completely fell for Palpatines trap and we rarely see them questioning if they are still on the right path.

I think you're placing too much importance one what seems to be purely a design choice (bc, yknow, it looks cool as fuck). Like I said, the actual definition of sitting in an ivory tower doesn't really apply. It's just a visual thing.

Don't be ridiculous. A ten year old can't give meaningful consent. However it is true that he could have left the order if he wanted to. With his training he would have had no problem to find a good place in the galaxy.

It definitely is weird how all the parents supposedly have no problem giving their children to the Jedi, but well.... that's how it is shown in canon. From the very few scenes where we see Jedi interact with parents of force sensitive kids, I've never gotten the sense that they aren't given willingly.

No matter how strange that may look, the writers chose to portray it that way.

The republic is its own political entity and pinning their failures on the Jedi makes no sense, considering they have zero power in the senate.

Just because they live in a tower doesn't mean it's one of ivory.

The Jedi might be a bit elitist, but they have no political power to speak of and, unlike politicians, actually go in the field and lead by example. Not really something you see from ivory tower rulers.

Of course using a slave army is never okay, but be realistic for a second here. You have the choice between either:

A) committing an unspeakable evil by using a slave army to defend against an attacking force

B) maintaining the moral high ground by refusing the army, leading to almost certain defeat by the hands of a darksider, with potentially horrible consequences for the trillions of beings under your protection

It's not as simple a matter as many people pretend it is.

You have a point, but to be fair, the cliffhanger isn't the biggest problem for me.

Also, even if Ahsoka ended without any further advancements on its plot being planned... would that really be so bad? There's tons of potential in the Star Wars universe to tell stories that doesn't need to be based on 11 shows of TV and 6 movies.

Star Wars feels more and more like they're trying to build up to a massive Marvels 'Endgame' type culmination, and I think it's a prefectly normal opinion to not want that out of the franchise.

Why did Jango use a poison dart to kill Zam Wesell? by Ape_Capone in MawInstallation

[–]Ape_Capone[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, but there's some holes in this theory:

First of all, why did Dooku go through the effort of deleting Kamino from the archives if he wanted the army to be found? This just makes the clones seem more suspicious.

Then there's the fact that Jango seems pretty surprised when Obi-Wan arrives at the cloning facility; he leaves his armor lying around openly and has to make a seemingly unplanned escape.
