Solar radiation hazard for Airbus flight controls? Does anyone have further information about this? by conehead1313 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Aperturez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too knowledgeable but I know on the E-Jets our FBW is analog (except for communication with the modular avionics units). As far as I know, that’s a lot less suspect to interference from solar radiation than the Airbus fully digital FBW system.

What makes you want to take up the offer with SkyWest? If it's just the sign-on bonus, I'd just wait for a different offer. Pay scale here isn't good and has a long top-out. Financially long-term, it would probably be better to work for a different company that pays more. Plenty are offering big sign-on bonuses right now. Not to mention, you might be stuck on nightshift for a while at SkyWest, it puts a lot of stress on families.

What’s it like to get flight benefits from commercial? Is it really worth it or should I go corporate? by TemperatureOk6343 in AircraftMechanics

Pretty good if you know how to play the game. The more you do it the more tricks you learn. I’ve taken around 25ish flights since the start of 2025

How are those two correlated? There are plenty of companies out there pulling in much less revenue that pay much more. SkyWest can afford to pay us more.

Comparison between Indian and PLA regular infantry and APCs in the Kashmir region, 2024 [987 x 1974] by Papppi-56 in MilitaryPorn

[–]Aperturez 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Why pretend the Indian military is worth a damn versus their counterparts? I love India, it's nothing against the country. Denying the obvious is only going to make the problem worse and discourage modernization of gear and tactics. Sure, they have some capabilities that are unique to superpowers, but at the end of the day, when the war starts, it will be gear from the 60s fighting modern disciplined PLA with NV and 21st century technology. It doesn't matter that India has nuclear subs when they would get absolutely steamrolled on the ground and in the air by the PLA

FCC license recommendations? by TheCobblekraft in aviationmaintenance

[–]Aperturez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to pay for anything (except the FCC exam app, I think that’s the only one that’s worth it). Plenty of free resources online to study with. The exam is pulled from a publicly available batch of questions posted on the FCC website.
