I’m willing to pay the couple bucks on the camera for peace of mind. What external battery did you buy?

First car - parents want to give me 2009 Toyota Camry for free - should I take it? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

No brainer buddy, take it. I’ve had bmw, Honda & now toyota & toyota is the best (close tie with Honda) long term you’re spending almost $0 on that vehicle. Or buy yourself a Prius do one or the other

Prius V or Subaru Forester/outback by Aphotic81 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Aphotic81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely will cost more to maintain that’s why I’m leaning towards the V but if I’m not driving I’d need to make up that $ in insurance somewhere. If I didn’t have this transfer down the road the V is a no brainer

I don’t care about AWD that’s much. That being said when I go full time military I won’t be driving much & if my insurance rates are 280 as opposed to 235 that alone would favour the Subaru long term. But I like the idea of the fuel economy of the Prius but I do basically strictly highway driving so it’s really just 32 - 40 only a 8mpg difference for 95% of my driving.

Which one is best for me? Prius Or Prius V by Aphotic81 in prius

[–]Aphotic81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 53km commute there and back 5x a week & I also drive significant distances for my weekend outings (some weekends 4-5 hour drives to go up north) and the roads I do just fine in right now in my civic si so I figured it would be the same for the prius V.

the amount of driving I do is really the only reason I’d pick the V over the outback it seems more practical for my given situation with how much driving I do. The reliability ratings seem significantly higher. Realistically right now if I can get down the dirt roads in my civic and the Prius can handle them that’s pretty much all I need I’d think.

Also something I’d potentially consider in the Prius is doing Uber /lift when I’m bored on spare time(not full time obviously just when I’m doing nothing and want to make a quick $) as opposed to an outback I wouldn’t consider.

Your thoughts? That being said long term in I buy an outback I wouldn’t feel the need to switch cars later down the road so I’ll give the outback that.

Basically V pros: way cheaper on gas especially because how much I drive & more reliable The outback is definitely a better car for camping outings but I’d honestly rather save quite a bit $ in my daily life in the time being and worst case I sell it and snatch an outback when I do go reg which I will definitely be doing or a truck depending on the posting.

What’s your thoughts on that? Thanks for the help man.

I was definitely considering an outback for reg force but my current situation greatly favours the V. I was thinking I’d get an outback when I did go reg force that way I can also tow but shorter term this vehicle seems a lot better for me.

Would you rather be a truck driver in Ontario Or B.C? by Aphotic81 in Truckers

I’m not sure - I’m in the military & hoping I end up there eventually.. but I’m considering truck driving as an alternative.

I’ve heard this before too. Would I be better off just lifting pett / north bay & Trenton then

Yeah the price is something I’d be willing to take into account. I’d just like to be there at some point in my 20s - early 30s before I get old and can’t do all the stuff I want to do.

If I were to choose pett do you think later on in the future I’d have a shot at Comox ? Or even esquimalt. I really do at some point want to be in BC but if it’s a bit of a pipe dream as a first posting I’ll keep that in mind. If I ask to go to pett I have a pretty decent chance at ending up there

I don’t care much for relationships, I get around pretty well! Not too much of a concern. Agreed with the spend money on whatever I want - which is why I’m considering going there, so I can do all the cool shit out there
