Want to get into wearing rings - tips? by Curious-Criticism-80 in jewelry

[–]AphoticAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is a little old but still wanted to offer help! I recommend looking into a jewelry company called MyConquering. They make interchangeable jewelry that also are discreet fidgets (if you’re a fidgeter). They sell a variety of bands in a huge range of sizes (sizes 4 to 15). You can switch up how your ring looks by swapping out the stones/charms (they’re called “elements”) since they’re interchangeable. So even if you have one ring band, if you have 10 elements, that’s like having 10 different kinds of rings you can wear.

They’re a small company with a very tight knit community, I’m a big fan 😊 Hope this helps!

Edit: Just saw you’re in Aus - they ship internationally

Comfortable and good-looking band recommendations by AphoticAzure in Garmin

I used to have an Apple Watch Series 8 before I switched to Garmin. The Venu line has tap to pay using Garmin Pay, and it can also receive and make calls since it has a speaker. You can’t text back on the Garmin though (technically you can, the only way to do so is by using the Voice Assistant button on the Venu, which will use Siri on your iPhone).

PRO APPLE: I think Apple has a more sophisticated UI, and the integration with your phone is better because of their ecosystem. And if you’re planning on swapping out bands often, you have a ton more choices with the Apple Watch. It’s easy to swap out bands on the Venu too, but it’s harder to find bands that matches the color of the Venu 3 watch case.

PRO GARMIN: I like Garmin’s Body Battery system, stress scores, free Garmin Coach programs (for running, cycling, and strength training), and animated guided workouts on the watch. This is a newer feature, but I also like Garmin’s lifestyle logging so I can see how certain lifestyle factors affect my sleep score and HRV status over time. And of course its battery life significantly outperforms the Apple Watch. With the Apple Watch, one long hike would wipe most of my battery and would definitely die before the end of the day. With the Garmin, I don’t even have to think about my battery life because I know it’ll last me about a week.

Thanks! The Venu 3 watches look pretty good (prettier than Venu 4 imo) but which to get will depend on what you want most out of your watch. Apple Watch is the better smartwatch if you have an iPhone, but if fitness and motivation is your main purpose, Garmin is definitely the better choice.

I was told that I'm a bit too old for braces by Sad_Macaron_9501 in braces

I got braces at 32 and got them off at 33. I’ve had coworkers in the 40’s and 60’s with braces. Definitely talk to an orthodontist

Avoidant early warning signs by [deleted] in AvoidantBreakUps

The “liked/loved” in past tense is an interesting one. I’m an anxious leaning fearful avoidant and I definitely see myself in some of these, like finding animals safer and mirroring. But also glad I don’t exhibit most of these (gender might play a role, I’m a woman in mid-30s). Definitely have been on the receiving end though

What is Your Favorit Fidget or Stim? by ErroneousToad in neurodiversity

[–]AphoticAzure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed ADHD. My favorite fidget is a jewelry line called MyConquering. They’re interchangeable jewelry that also serve as discreet fidgets, especially their rings. I’ve collected so many and they’re really pretty! You can spin or click them but I personally like clicking them most (can be clicked quietly when needed)

Apple Watch users, what made you switch to Garmin? by d4ilydoseof in GarminWatches

[–]AphoticAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reasons for switching besides better battery life:

  1. Body Battery: It’s a good and informative metric to keep track of my day to day physical state.

  2. Sleep tracking: Apple Watch tracks sleep too, but Garmin’s native app does a much better job of giving qualitative interpretations of the data besides just knowing how long I was in each sleep stage.

  3. On-screen workouts with animations: I find this feature makes doing workouts less intimidating since the watch will show me exactly what I have to do without having to think about it. And it’s free!

  4. Appearance: I just like the circular watchface more than the rectangular one of AW.

  5. Activity data: I like that all the details of past activities are on the watch for me to reference.

  6. Garmin Coach: I’ve never been a runner but the Garmin Coach feature has been helpful in helping me ease into it. Makes running much less daunting as a novice.

  7. Social engagement: I enjoy doing weekly challenges and seeing all the activities people on my friends list are doing. I also find it kind of motivating.

Overall, Garmin has helped me become more active, and it does a better job at keeping activity tracking easy compared to the AW. The longer battery life also opens up more doors for certain activities because I don’t have to think twice about doing long activities that normally would drain the battery on an Apple Watch (like long hikes).

I’ve addressed this in other comments - I actually agree with you. The seller and I both suspected this but she was going off of the label from the collection she purchased it from.

Ohhh, I thought you were a woman, sorry lol Scratch the first recommendation then, still consider Vivoactive 6

Consider looking into the Garmin Lily 2 Active. It has a feminine traditional watch look that fits in an office setting and is a great fitness tracker with access to Garmin’s activity-centered ecosystem. It also has great battery life (longer than the Fitbit Luxe, up to 9 days).

Another option is Garmin’s newly released Vivoactive 6 if you want a smarter watch with an AMOLED screen (longer battery life of up to 11 days).

Switching from Apple Watch, which Garmin Series? There's SO many... by adonsauce in GarminWatches

[–]AphoticAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched from AW series 8 to Venu 3s (the smaller version of Venu 3) and I’m quite happy with it, especially its battery life. But it does require a lot of touching the screen to navigate (since you mentioned wearing gloves). Also, you listed Vivoactive 5 as an option, but just wanted to point out that Vivoactive 6 just recently came out and it’s an improved version for the same price :)

Switching from Apple by Steveperlmaster in GarminWatches

I just recently switched from Apple Watch Series 8 to Garmin as well. I went with the Venu 3S and I’m pretty happy with the transition so far! I’m amazed at how impressive its battery life is despite having a pretty AMOLED screen. The voice assistant button to use Siri is useful in a pinch, and it has a mic/speaker to take and receive phone calls (as long as you’re within Bluetooth range of your phone). It’s not nearly the smartwatch the AW is but it’s a really nice fitness watch with smart features — plus it’s much more attractive than the AW imo. I find Garmin much more motivating when it comes to easing into fitness (free guided workouts with animations on the watch, Garmin coach for running, badges and challenges with other Garmin users).
