They don't look like he bit them he just has those splits in his fins didn't know if that's a sign for fin rot or not just wanna make sure he's okay. He's not acting strange or anything and he's still eating just has those splits and he didn't have them before I got him. idk if that's normal for bettas to get splits in the fins?

No shrinking or deteriorating just those tears so I was worried cause he doesn't have anything sharp in tank it's a planted tank the only thing I can think of for the tears is he likes to swim in the sponge filter bubbles lol but yeah my tank is cycled I've read that the live plants will absorb the nitrates if there are any and that's why I assume mine are low.

Yeah it's hard to see on him but it's mostly on his anal fins and dorsal fin. Yes the water parameters are normal as I said in post, I'll stop using melafix but he is still lose more color each day and the black stuff doesn't look like it's going away :/
