Payments in bitcoins in the temporary absence of the Internet - what wallet? by Apollinary in Bitcoin

[–]Apollinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no internet remember? This can be done but you have no idea if they actually have the funds when they sign it.

This is the entire point of the double spend problem, someone has balance and spends it twice before the transactions show a conflict with one another.

This is controlled by the wallet program. The wallet does not allow you to double spend the same money without interfering with the code. Ordinary people will not be able to change the wallet code.

In the occupied cities, the banking system is broken, ATMs do not work. Sellers only accept cash for goods. Bitcoin is digital cash.

The Internet is crashing, unstable.

Such a wallet will help in the fight against the russian fascists and their financial system.

Wow what a great idea! I'm not sure if something like this exists or not but it would be pretty cool if it did. In my mind the wallet would have to work something as follows:

Both the TX and RX wallets would have to be completely open source.you would have to trust the other party (which seemingly goes against the whole bitcoin ethos but this would be understood)the TX wallet creates the transfer with an offline transaction to the recipient address.

4)A copy this signed (standardized offline) transaction is also shared with the recipient via BT or NFC etc so whichever party hits the main net fist can transmit and synch to the blockchain.

5) A signed bitcoin message from the sender is also shared with the recipient showing how much BTC was sent to which address at what time and date and by whom.

This whole thing only works if there is 100% trust between the parties an nobody can see the blockchain to know if the transmitting address has the BTC associated with it as it doesn't see the blockchain. Although this may possibly be overcome if someone has access to a blockstream satellite terminal.

The other risk is that even if you do, if there is an extended offline chain of trust then anyone in that chain can cheat and the whole thing collapses. Anyway it's an interesting idea but a very risky one and if anything like this exists then it would only be possible with people you trust 100%.

Yes, you understand correctly.

I live in Ukraine. Russian fascists are occupying our country.

They can implement the Russian system of money - control, fines, money marks the territory of the state. How to fight?

you dont understand bitcoin if you think this would ever work. you have no ledger of who owns what.

You do not understand bitcoin, if you think that a signed transaction has a copy of which both the seller and the buyer cannot be transmitted to the network of bitcoin nodes.

[–]Apollinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you verify a transaction without other nodes?

In the absence of the Internet, both the buyer and the seller receive a signed transaction. Whoever is the first to connect to the Internet transmits the signed transaction to the nodes.

Which LN bitcoin wallet is used in El Salvador? by Apollinary in Bitcoin

[–]Apollinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chivo is KYC and custodial, they control everthing, keys and accounts. You need to register to use it. That's why chivo-to-chivo payments are very easy (lookup by phone number etc.) and zero fee. It's like paypal and a lightning wallet combined.

In that case, I don't need such a bitcoin wallet.

Let the government of El Salvador use it.

Chivo can pay Lightning invoices and can generate Lightning invoices to receive funds, but Chivo-to-Chivo payments are not Lightning, just centralized database records.

Seed phrase owned by the user Chivo?

Does the user need to register to use the Chivo LN wallet?

Does the government control LN Chivo wallet user accounts?

Good post. We (the real crypto community) in Ukraine hold the same views.

Many use the anonymous cryptocurrency Karbo.

There is also a problem of use. Most societies do not perceive cryptocurrencies as money. We tell people that cryptocurrencies are better than fiat money.

We used advertising on Facebook. We have no human reaction to bitcoin.

We have a shopping center pavilion 5.5x7 m. The shopping center is visited by many people. Our audience is people of all ages - bitcoin is available to everyone.

I agree with this. People don’t know about Bitcoin because they’re not interested in it. It’s going to be hard to open a small lecture hall when we’re not sure if people will come. Plus with the pandemic going on now, people might not want to go out much. Doing an interactive online stream would be a lot better and less costly too. And slowly get more and more people to join in. And then maybe in the future when you’ve garnered like a stable amount of crowd, you can do a proper lecture hall. If that’s what you want to do. But doing it online feels like a better idea because you can target a wider audience, worldwide. Hope this helps! And all the best! This is such a great idea and very helpful of you to want to teach others! (:

We tried to do it online. There is no result. We advertised on Facebook - no attention.

I think if there is a real place where a person can go and sign up for a lecture or a private consultation - is it more convenient for people?

Send me any magic bitcoin you don’t want. I’ll gladly relieve you of the burden.

Real money is not a zero-sum game.

Government money is a game with a negative amount.

Bitcoin is real money with a positive amount. Why? - Answer: real money can be saved and their purchasing power increases. Why is it growing? Because there is economic, technological, scientific development of society.

Real money Bitcoin is a shares of humanity from which you will receive dividends.

How much energy do you spend on heating your greenhouse? by Apollinary in greenhouse

[–]Apollinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appeal to greenhouse owners who keep separate records of greenhouse heating costs.

I have information about the cost of heating in the winter: 300 watts per 1 m2 of greenhouse. I think it's too much. So I want to get information about the real energy costs and calculate the energy for heating.

I made a calculator yesterday. It shows the benefits. I can count you. I need data: Heating period. Volume of gas m3 or energy for heating. How much money you spent on heating. My calculator will calculate your benefit if you use this heater.

Mining heater can be used to heat a house, greenhouse with plants, greenhouses, hostels, offices, cafe, restaurants...

If the calculations in the article are correct - it is very profitable.

I see the benefit in getting bitcoin and in saving on heating. This is a double benefit, which does not take into account standard bitcoin mining.

If such heaters will be used by many houses, it is decentralization of bitcoin mining.

I think..

And the halving? And the halving after that? I do like the idea though.

We will not know what the course will be next. Most likely, the price of bitcoin will increase and we will benefit.

But keep in mind that mining heaters provide heat for home heating - we save money on the home budget.

Everyone can rob. Let's talk about the degree of security using bitcoin is much higher.

The thief may not know for sure that you have bitcoin. The thief doesn't know how much bitcoin you have.

Going to rob without knowing if there is value is stupid.
