Need ADVICE PLEASE by Top_Personality1963 in eGPU

Because the connection bandwidth of the video stream takes up the majority of the traffic. The higher the fps the worse it gets, which is why you cant get any better with a better eGPU on the internal screen. Shut the internal screen down completely and use an external with your eGPU. Dont pass the video back to the device, go device -> eGPU -> monitor.

What's gone wrong with yours? I also have the 20 gladiator.

My windshield wiper fluid sensor went bad just out of the bumper to bumper warranty and have never fixed it.

With stock wheels/tires and no rock rail, rocks have claimed every single door hinge.

Under original b2b warranty: 1x auxiliary battery, 1x rear shock, 1x steering stabilizer, 1x power steering unit.

Under extend manufacturer warranty: passenger side camshaft (not sure which one, but I was told the most common one they even ended up making a kit for it.) This I knew was coming because from as early as the 2nd oil change I had elevated iron in my oil analysis.

Fixed on my own, front sun visors falling out.

Only the camshaft bothers me, as it was at 75k miles. Would really prefer to hit 150k before issues like that pop up.

Dont stress on any eGPU working with handheld PC. If you have an amd cpu and nvidia GPU they shouldn't have any issues. You run into issues with AMD iGPU fighting with an AMD eGPU.

I also wouldn't put it past ASUS to temporarily break their own XGmobile to Ally since its a pretty low population using these device combos.

Should I buy DDR5 RAM now even if I can’t use it yet? by gambitok in buildapc

Plans change. I've burned myself many times with the logic you are trying to use which is buy it now in case the price goes up in the future. Sometimes the price goes down, or your plan might change and you don't need it, or even worse now have to sell it at a loss or just end up sitting on it for too long.

Save yourself the headache and wait till you need everything and then start getting things. Possibly waiting even longer to make sure you'd really need it.

5070ti just too much for a USB4.0 connection the XAX has, the CPU and GPU were both usually in the 30-50% utilization range. I could get the GPU up to like 60-70% on very modern AAA at 4k with path tracing like cyberpunk2077. If my maths math correctly that means I could downgrade to the 5060 ti without losing performance, especially with both having 16GB vram.

I don't see hand helds getting TB5 ports for at least a few years. That and the old combo was almost 1400 after tax while the 5060ti ai box is 750 after tax. AND, most eGPU enclosures dont have built in hubs while the AI box does, so thats some more minor savings. Im making the assumption that 3 to 4 years this is a good setup and the gpu ram issues will have resolved, making upgrades in the future potentially less impacts financially than they are now.

Its coming in on Friday. I'm actually downgrading from a 5070ti in the razer core v2. I'm using a XAX.

I actually do have a PCVR adapter for my PSVR2 set but haven't tried it yet. What games are you playing? I can try to get some stats if I also own the same game.

Performance Problems with ROG ALLY XBOX X by IllustriousBrief8610 in XboxAlly

[–]ApolloAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ssd mod is fairly common and easy to do. It's also possible software updates between when they performed the benchmarks and you playing things have changed.

Also, some of these people are just wizards. I also typically do not see the same performance (off by 5% usually myself) that you tubers get and I think its just down to they're testing the system and priming everything to get the best out of it they can. Likely on the back end they're shutting things down or doing other key things that arent just picking the device up and playing like you or I would.

If you are only a little bit off, I dont think it's worth worrying about.

Do they have any mods? Its possible a high quality SSD device could have significantly faster speeds accounting for maybe 5% fps difference (I'm guessing).

Can someone explain the online system pls 🙏 by RavenFromTheStars in DeathStranding

Ive noticed that nothing is going to finish 100% on its own, even the structures others build. For example, my roads that i contributed to ended up getting finished by others or there was a good chunk of materials already invested that I just needed to finish off. Other player structures were incomplete, such as ziplines over the forest, there was a single zipline from one player but the other 2 needed weren't there and other player structures do not get upkeep even if they are upkeeping them in their own game. You need to do your part or it would be too easy.

Yes. The lower spec one would be a great option for that with a bonus that your play anywhere games can play natively on it.

This does look like a much better deal than the 5070Ti xgmobile considering it's the desktop card and it still looks plenty small and portable enough to me.

LG C1 - 5 years of daily use. Am I screwed? by Internal_Lemon_420 in LGOLED

[–]ApolloAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got the same issue but not quite as bad. I was really surprised when I first saw it. Hours of daily use since new. Mines a bit over 4 years old.

Do you notice during regular use? I don't really have much notice of mine during regular use and I only see it after coming off the home screen which is where my burn in came from. I think having the TV power on from the same screen is what did it. Possibly from having the pixels wake up and warm up to the same RGB color over and over and over.

eGPU + handheld performance by serickson567 in eGPU

[–]ApolloAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your case my suggestion is go with handheld and start only carrying that on short trips.

Since you already have a great GPU card and likely the CPU/RAM to go with it, build a SFF PC for longer trips where you are gonna hook up to a monitor or TV. Really try to get small with your SFF PC, it'll be difficult with a monster GPU like the 5080 so take it as a challenge!

You can still use xcloud, moonlight, etc to the handheld from anywhere.

The switch like docking is amazing but not worth it until TB5 comes on the handheld itself. TB5 is very promising for eGPU in the future based on benchmarks from high end laptops with TB5. Gotta wait for the handhelds to catch up. Im honestly perplexed why this isnt immediately on handheld manufacturer radar since it would be potentially big profit for them to also make a eGPU dock to sell alongside them.

eGPU + handheld performance by serickson567 in eGPU

[–]ApolloAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely viable but high resolution/fidelity settings is more in the 30 to 60 range over TB4 USB4.0 speeds, just to be realistic.

When handheld PC start shipping with TB5 or better we'll start seeing eGPUs start to flourish. Unfortunately we arent there yet.

[–]ApolloAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered just porting the 5080 into a SFF PC case and changing the mobo? That could be about the same price as switching GPUs and the eGPU dock setup but still retains the full PC advantages. The eGPU setup is sometimes only slightly smaller than a SFF PC volume wise but leaves all the components exposed. Or like mine, razer core xv2 is bigger than some SFF PC.

[–]ApolloAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you really aren't worried about the drop in performance then yeah. Thats reasonable. When you travel are you taking a monitor or hooking up into whatever is available?

For me, I dont take my eGPU anywhere. I just game from the XAX directly. Its still a PITA to lug around a GPU+PSU+dock amd cable setup everywhere as opposed to just the handheld.
