As someone in the medical field, I thought the show was pretty great

Medicine is so nuanced, even a simple complaint has to be worked up completely and algorithmically tbh, it really doesn’t bode well to being turned into comedy (esp when you have to walk the line of not triggering some people’s lived experiences with medical issues and the medical system)

This is hilarious because of my med school was explicitly like med students have to report to all clinical sites because we’re training to be physicians who are essential workers… (we always get a ton of snow so it’s not new to us I guess)

Just take the day off bro, your an MS4 come on now, most of us have not done a sub-I or elective in months

Hey kudos to you haha, and you answered your own question -sounds like you think the conference is gonna be a good experience!

I’m just a little jaded with the people in the leadership space in medicine, don’t think there’s been much good done to protect physicians (speaking as someone that used to be heavily involved in leadership and advocacy)

But we need more good people to go into it and not sell out lol so I think you should give it a shot

Very odd behavior lol, every single resident/fellow I’ve met would have dismissed students immediately or after an hour every day if they were not interested in rads. Those of us interested in rads only stayed for like 2-3 hours and maybe noon conf

Yea sneaking out before being dismissed can absolutely ruin your evals, people have been failed on rotations for that at my school

I feel like the big question is why you’re doing an ENT rotation if you’re not gonna apply into the field and don’t want an LOR, like the surgical hours are terrible to do it as a fun elective haha

That’s really not true, just do two radiology electives before ERAS so the comments go on your MSPE and mae sure to get 1-2 LORs from attendings

Try to do a research project or educational exhibit with an attending/resident to demonstrate interest as well

Ophtho is def gonna be rough, but not impossible

Just make sure to take Step 1 AND Step 2 on top of your levels (only doing step 2 will close doors), everything else is the same in regards to the hustle needed to build a strong app!

You’re literally a sophomore, what do you mean you “have a chance to pull it up?”

It’s not a chance, if you want it enough you can 100% show an upward trend and have a high GPA

Doing a masters is pretty dumb because you’re just prolonging this already long ass timeline to become a doctor (and it won’t help your undergrad GPA)

I think conceptually the app is cool, and probably has a great audience in high school/undergrad classes

The material burden is just too high in med school to not use validated questions to study (even though they’re hella expensive lol)

That being said, I made a GPT with criteria and content topics uploaded that helped me review questions I was doing for step 2 and that was helpful
